Is it possible the guy went over top of the original pinstriping with a red one?

2 questions

1. Does the blacktie pinstriping normally go right around the back of the truk lid?

2. Is the blacktie firewall normally black or silver? This one is black.

Yes it does and it is signed by Dr Ru and numbered about bottom center.

2. Is the blacktie firewall normally black or silver? This one is black.

Don't know

Mismatched tires would be a problem if I were the buyer. Description says the front tires are run flats, I don't believe they are.

12 were produced in Canada, maybe the pinstripe was applied differently.

12 were produced for Canada, not in Canada.

Pretty sure they were all made at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit, Michigan and they were all pinstriped in the same facility. From what I read, he took 45 minutes to do one car and he would do 10 a day.

Of course I could be wrong and have been in the past.

It looks like someone put a red pin stripe under the gray one put on at the factory by DR. RU. On this car it should say #62 and sighed by DR Ru in the middle of the trunk in the gray pin stripe. Very small and hard to see. This number is registered for this Prowler and should be there. All WOODWARD and BLACK TIES were numbered and signed by DR. RU at the factory

Yes I was surprised to see that mistake when I went to the site. I guess it's short for "produced for Canada".

Firewall on a Black Tie is silver. The pinstripe is not correct and should go all around the trunk. As mentioned previously, DR Ru signed all Black Ties but not necessarily in order of production. I purchased mine new; #146.

Yeah, agree w/Jerry. Everything x the stripe is right -- year, VIN, date, firewall color. Here's my guess. With 44K+, the driver was probably rear-ended. It's a constant fear of mine - even thought of getting a dupe lid and saving the orig in garage. Tht destroyed his Dr. Ru sig, so he did the red under the white. Somebody had to know the Dr. Ru # so it was there at some point. My take - 27K is low cause the pix show great condition otherwise. The hi mileage is prob why.

Rog, think it's the lighting. Check the driver side contrast between the plenum top and the firewall. Definitely some difference;
