The first day I had the Prowler I noticed the Prowler sits extremely low . My garage ceiling is 9ft 6 inches high, I'm thinking about a lift. Does anyone have a lift that is used in a garage with a low ceiling? The manufacturer says the lift will work with as little as 9 ft 4 inches in height. 10 ft ceilings are recommended for most lifts. Comments? It sure would be nice to ge it up in the air for cleaning ,etc.

My ceilings are 12 feet so I have no experience with low clearance.

I have a 12', two post asymmetrical lift. I noticed when the prowler is on it, It is just a little over 9' tall at the lifts highest height. I was thinking the posts and top cross member could be housed up in the rafters if someone was to do a bit of fancy carpentry.

What are you wanting?

Park 2 cars in hat space?

What else ill be there, SUV or smaller sedan

With the prowler should be mno problem with 9'6" but the problem might be your overhead door. Can it be in far enough this isn't an issue or can the door be raised to give you the clearance you need.

I have only 10' in my out building and with Imperial on top and prowler under I will have enough room, should work the other way too, since the prowler is so short, might give me more room under, but I hardly ever drive the Imperial

Not interested in parking two cars in one spot. I just want a lift in one space. I've got several garages. Two are higher than the others. I was really interested in which brand to buy and how everyone that has that type likes it. Some are bolted to the floor and some are self standing. It seems they run from $3k to $9k in price range.

This is the cheapest I've seen.

with a 2 post you need 4" of solid concrete to bolt to. 5" is better. An asymmetrical allows you to drive into position and open the doors. I have no experience with the 4 posters.

Those free auto trader magazines that you pick up in convenience stores are loaded with all kind of lifts and the prices don't look too bad. I noticed a lot of them are in Indianapolis.

I purchased a Titan 4 post lift out of Indy for $1725.00 picked up at Fed Ex terminal in Nashville, put it together and love it.

Not sure what you want the lift to serve, so this is what I have used for over ten years. My lift is a Snap On Portable Lift made by Wheel Tronics. It is a portable lift that I normally park the Prowler over. When I sold my home and moved, I took it with me. I, as an old coot, am able to move it from one side of my garage to the other side. It will lift the Kat high enough that I am able to sit on a stool on the under side and not worry about it hitting the garage door when open. And the nicest part is, it lifts the frame and allows me to turn and clean the barrels of my wheel very easily. I use two 2x12 boards to guide my Prowler when I park it over the lift. Works perfect.

Mine looks shorter than 50.9 inches. It makes the Silverado Truck look gigantic..smiles.

If type or brand is what you are looking for, mine is a CyTech 4 post lift

I didn't know anything when I bought mine and not many people had them at home.

Mine is a 7,000 lbs lift, runners are 13' long, don't remember how wide. But I do plan on getting a second lift. Will probably get it from Greg Smith or Complete Hydrulics both in center Indiana, but thing Greg Smith has other locations.

My next one will be a bigger lift that my truck will fit on. Wheel base on it is right at 13' (that is how I remember how long it is)

Got mine for the ease of cleaning and doing maintenance, but it has been a great help over the years.

I plan on getting the bridge jack to lift the frame for suspension maintenance. A floor jack on jack bridge sucks.

Do some research on what your wants and needs are. Just to get the car up in the air 9'6" will do with a 4 post and the Prowler.

Have 3 drip trays, jack bridge, longer approach ramps (recommend aluminum ramps, it is he'll to get old and weak) oil drain canister and a caster set to move it. It isn't bolted down and I can move on solid surface by myself. So as long as it will fit thru your overhead door you could move it outside or to another building easily.

My lift was a show lift for PRI show in Indy and it doesn't have stops from about 18" to 36" and I recommend for equal space stops from top to bottom.

My lift came from Greg Smith. 4-post Direct lift with three drip trays, jack bridge and casters. 8000 pound Capacity. I have had it for 5 years with no issues and I store one of the cars on it most of the time.
