Doing a little research before installing vertical lamb doors on my 2000 Prowler.
I searched this site forum and got a lot of "opinions", but am not looking for opinions on whether to do it or not.
I like the look, and I am going to do it.
My question is this:
Do these lambo doors make it any, even a smidgen, easier to get in and out of a Prowler.
Thanks,
BillyC

I too am thinking of getting them.
This is what I found, there are many companies that make Lambo doors.
Those that look to open at an almost 90 degree are welded on. And you can find them for about $300.
The brand Vertical Doors which are bolted on and they open two ways, like the Prowler does now, and Lambo style. They look like a 65 degree opening. I always think I will hit my head going in and out with them, because of the angle of this company opening.
I spoke to a guy named Abe from Vertical Doors, they are priced everywhere on the Internet by CarsId.com for $1,500 with 10% off, but he said he can do it for $1,100.
My suggestion is go to car meets since its getting warmer, I am sure some one will have Lambo doors for you to test out going in and out.
If you need the email Abe sent me on the price, let me know.
Good luck.

Are you getting them just to make it easier getting in and out? You can do the door widing on the prowler to make it easier to get in and out of.

Vertical Doors Inc are the only way to go.... super great quality on only 6 hours total to put them on the Prowler... The body shop I use will not install any other manufacturer because of bad experiences in the past with other brands...

As for getting in and out, I used door wideners and have no problem plus I am an old coot; so if I "a cave man" can do it so can you. Lambos, as far as I am concerned, are impressive but not practical.

I have Lambo doors on one Prowler. I don't think it is any easier to get in and out of but it is not harder, either. It is different. The Prowler sits so low that it could be more difficult to get in since you can't hang on to the door to "assist" you sitting down. I am tall and old an not as agile as I used to be.

ive never seen a/m lambo drs work perfectly on any car.there are many problems with those kits.getting those type of drs to close properly isnt goin to happen, theres allways a alignment problem.if your only concern is easier entry they arent any easier.you need to do the -make your dr open wider mod.

He stated he likes the look and is going to do the mod. He was only wondering if it would make any difference in the ease of getting in or out of the car. Consensus points to no.
Read his post. He's not doing the mod for the purpose of ease of getting in or out. In other words, he's not interested in just doing a mod to make his doors open wider to make it easier to get in or out of the car. So telling him to do the make-your-doors-open-wider mod instead has nothing to do with what he is talking about.

Thanks all.
I've received the answer, (and more-LOL) and it looks like it will look cool to most, but won't be any easier or harder to get in and out.

George Johnson has a set, I think the bolt on type. I have seen him get in and out, and it looks like he has to contort some, so I don't think it is any easier. But perhaps he will chime in and tell you his experience first hand.
But they do look COOL!! (From what I understand though, the fuzzy dice are not included.)

I hope I don't offend anyone and really this is just my opinion. I'm sorry and I have to be honest but I just don't understand putting Lambo style doors on a Prowler. For me this would seem to me to be akin to putting Lambo doors on a 32 or 34 roadster. The Prowler was noteworthy and acclaimed for is retro hot rod styling. Lambo doors are not retro hot rod IMO. It does have a definite wow factor, but for me it just seems like a form of sacrilege. But we are not all the same and you have to do what pleases you. They are just not for me.

I am offended, but I am an extremely sensitive guy. lol
Actually I agree with your sentiment. I have one with the lambo doors but it was that way when I bought it. I don't think I would do it myself for the reasons you gave.
The Prowler has beautiful flowing lines and folks want to put square items on it.
Of course, I still believe all Prowlers should stay totally stock, too. lol

you guys said something about a door widening . is there a kit or could someone tell how to do or buy what I need. a wider door would make it a lot easier for my fat self to get in and out.

Someone on here sells one, but you can do it yourself with a couple of nuts or washers. Do a search for door widening.

My interest for the doors was not for ease of getting in and out, just for the look... as the stock hinge works I was never unhappy with the way they opened... The Verts should accent the wings in the paint...

Now on the other hand I would love to do suicide doors. This is retro hot rod.

By comparison... there is none. Suicide doors hands down. That's the way the Prowler should have come stock.
