Always loved the V8 at idle and throttle back. And your headers sound awesome Bob. I think they are apples and oranges though and there is no winner. |

Bob Was so great to see you! You where the first person to see the Kat here in NJ. I will say up front that those headers and sassy muffler on your car really packs a punch! Well you all know me, always have a long answer. Here it goes anyway for the interested parties. When you build a custom car from scratch you also have a chance to design and engineer the sound. As many of you know the Hemi Kat entire exhaust system was built by hand front to back to hit a specific tone, performance and output. I purposely took a medium loud deeper tone route and this one is even a bit lower note than even the first one Perf innovations built (They used race more open single mufflers) I went for a more diveable tone. One other thing did you notice the difference on the length of the sound of the V6 vs the V8 on each pedal push? This is based on the fact that the V8 hemi uses a electronically controlled throttle vs manual cable based on the V6. The pedal system was swapped and the computer drives the output. A bit different drive! I love and use Mangaflow because they are wide open but well padded on the exterior. This allows for a lower tone inside the bay but no loss of performance on the rear. Just a quick Hemi exhaust build visual recap Built these coated added high flow Magnaflow Cat convertors and a mangaflow Performance muffler (Non Race)

End product is engineered sound and Hemi performance!! Just as a reference point here is another 6.1 hemi prowler notice any difference in the exhaust design? This is magnaflow competition style muffers no cat convertors. Sound is one thing you can do by choice. Fun Fun! This message has been edited by treyb on 02-23-2013 at 11:13 AM |

Not that you needed more power to deal with, but, all things being equal, a balanced exhaust (X-pipe) makes more power than true duals. From my experience aluminized steel exhaust produces a lower exhaust note than stainless steel. But IMO the greatest exhaust improvement is a cam that has significant lope. |
