Just got a prowler, was thinking on putting Lambo doors on it, wanted advice.
First, will it depreciate the value with them.
Second, anyone know which are good to get ( brand name)
Third, can anyone recommend one in queens/long island a shop
Thank you

I always have thought about doing this, and I might yet. Most classic car people I talk to say to not do it as it would ruin the " retro" look of the car and make it kind of " ricey". I don't know about that. I just know I like the look.

What do you want the car to look like?????
A Roadster or a Exotic.
That should be your answer.

Don't know about the lambo doors, but the suicide doors fit the theme of the car more. Retro look, more than the modern look, as evident at B-J. It's whatever blows your skirt up.

My opinion to the value added or taken away is this. If a buyer likes the look the value is higher, if someone is looking for something close to original he's going to pass on the car.

If it's a mod that can be reversed then why not make the change and you can always offer it for sale later either with the kit or without.

Yes to the suicide doors - headed in the right direction

Never to the Lambo doors - American Hot Rod, NOT!

A waste of money and does nothing for the Prowler....And as Ed once said, you don't drive it down the street with the doors open and so what's the point?

only one car is meant to have lambo drs,a lambo, cause its built that way at the fact.other cars are not,and when you change to them they just dont work, fit like the fact.setup.
many owners will say,yes they work perfectly, cause they dont.jmo a hugh waste of time and money.

We have them on the Orange car. Sandy doesn't like them at all. They are okay but I wouldn't spend my money on them, I bought it with the doors already changed.
Sandy doesn't like having to LIFT the door. Her side needs to be adjusted a little.
The flip side is no one knows you "ruined" the hot rod look if the door is shut.

It's your car and if it's the look your going for I say do it! That's the fun thing about cars personalizing them to your own taste. Good luck in your search.

I ALSO HVE THE VERTICAL DOOR KIT ON MINE. THE VERTICAL DOOR KIT IS A BOLT ON SO YOU DO NOT HABE TO DRILL OR WELL THE HINGES ON THE CAR. I GOT MY ON E-BAY FOR AROUND US$ 900 - GO ON E-BAY AND CHECK FOR "MAKE A OFFER" AND OFFER THEM YOUR PRICE YOU LIKE. THE THING ABOUT LAMBO DOOR KIT ON EVERY "NORMAL CAR" IS THET THEY NOT FITT AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL OPENING. FOR SHURE YOU HAVE TO GET USED OF THE OPENIG AND NOW HOW TO CLOSE THE VERTICAL DOORS

part of the problem w/a dr.kit is prowler doors being aluminum are much lighter than a reg. steel dr.,so it doesnt have that extra weight, which would help it close much easier, the a/m dr, kit im sure doesnt take that into account.the other problem is that it eventually it will start chewing up the latch and striker,if it doesnt close properly.im not telling anybody to not put lambo drs on a cat, just telling you the problems that me be encountered later, you choose.im sure the a/m cos that make the kit donot put a less powerful cyclinder in the kit.they use one for all.

I get all that. I dont have them yet , but I might. Just kind of put off by statements like " a total waste of money" etc. Any mod could be described by anyone that way, but our individual mods are what make it all special to me. Well, IMO. I have done mods to my Kat that others haven't, and might not want to. And vice a versa. Ok , cool. But don't tell me it was a total waste of money. Then I'm gonna say something that I don't want to say, and maybe more. I usually pass on the negative crap. Wish others would too is what I'm saying. But that's just me.

No Tom, it's not just you. That's just US!
I'm tired of it too and would like to see it stop. Either by choice or by force.

There is never a reason for the negative comments. If somebody doesn't like something, they need to keep quiet unless asked for their opinion.

I stand corrected! I didn't read to the beginning of the post. Advice was actually asked for and some was given.

Advice and opinions are two different things in my book. Opinions are what many people offer when asked for advice.

When you sell the car they may be the reason someone does or doesn't but it. I wouldn't think they would add to the value of the car.

Vertical doors is the way to go. I did buy them from the hemi Kat. They got down to the shop and he reco'ed keeping it stock with everything else going on and the best long term, so I sent them back. It's not so bad on the prowler since its not a daily driver. Go with your heart.
