24-08-98 JUN 98 A/C Compressor - Growl Noise

I think I have this condition on my Prowler, it is listed in the "Garage" section but does not give any way of making a fix. Do I need to bring it in for service?

You'll need to describe the sound a little more in order to pin-point the problem and get you a cost estimate....

How about this then.

$100.00 Hourly Labor Rate.

$150.00 If you watch.

$200.00 If you help.

$300.00 If you worked on it first.

I would not have posted it as written unless I found the exact description in the "Garage" section. I can't describe it much better then as it's written. Maybe I call the seller and ask, being he's a mech. Thanks fo rthe good natured ribbing.

im not talking about the hourly rate, the post.could be many things causing the noise, maybe its the belts, maybe the belts are a little loose, they have very high ft.lbs of tension, very high, maybe there worn, who knows.since you dont want to be specific, your on your own.

Dave, don't worry, you are not on your own but you might be better off now. I would take that TSB number to a dealer and ask to see the content of it. Or maybe a member here has access to that TSB.

My '97 has had the "growling" sound from day one. I was told something about a clutch and it was a natural sound. I fixed mine by turning up the stereo. It has worked perfect every since.

I saw that exact sign in a m/c shop on Friday. I took the Goldwing in for a rear tire and they had it on the window of the door leading to the shop.

Dave, you now own the car, and drove it a significant distance to get home ... Therefore, First, I would not bother the sellar on this, or anything, anymore. Second, I would not go looking for problems to crop up ... just try to enjoy the car. and Third, find a local mechanic that you can trust to handle the issues as they do arise. My two cents.
