Hi everyone. I'm looking for opinions about Pay pal. I have never used it. Anything I need to watch for?

Thanks

I have been using it for years with no issues. That said, I have heard stories about problems with return items.

Used it for years. Never had a problem. When submitting information, make sure you do not hit the submit key twice. Just wait for the pages to appear.

No problems to date.

You might want to google pay pal problems and see what pops up.

I have used it for years. Buy many supplies for business and even bought my Prowler on EBay. Probably more than 80,000 in ten years. Never had a problem with PayPal. I believe it is safe and secure.

The caution I offer is that you will receive bogus Phishing emails asking you to log into your PayPal account to address the problem. ((NOTE: PayPal will not send you emails like that and all emails from PayPal will be personal with your name not "Dear account holder")

Go for it... Brad

As a seller they suck as a buyer very convenient. I will try not to accept Paypal as seller at all cost as they don't protect sellers.

I completely agree w/Sabyby. If you're a buyer it's great they protect you. I've sold slot cars and trains on Ebay for years w/no problems 100% positive feedback. One time sold 3 expensive slot car items to a guy. 3 months after sale the guy wants to get some money off and goes to Paypal w/out ever contacting me. I never was notified and suddenly Paypal takes hundreds of dollars out of my account. This guy has history of doing this yet Paypal always seems to protect the buyer and screw the seller.

Back in 2009 someone got into my PayPal account and charged my credit card $790, twice. He also deducted $790 from my checking account, twice. Eventually I got the money back into my checking account and the credit card charges were cancelled but the whole experience sucked and I got out of PayPal. What amazed me is that they didn't think is was a big deal, you'll get your money back...eventually. To them it was just a cost of doing business.

The credit card charges were bad enough but when someone takes almost $1600 directly from your bank account it really sucks.

By the way, I am very carefull with my information never answering spam or giving my passwords to anyone. How he got the information beats me but it had to be on the PayPal end.

PayPal is great, BUT don't connect it to any accounts you have other than a credit card, If you buy anything and DO NOT receive it, you don't pay. As a BUYER , don't purchase insurance as you already have it with PayPal. As a SELLER always insist on insurance as if the item is lost , the seller looses.

Thanks everyone. I have a buyer for my Prowler but he has never asked any questions or asked for pictures or to see the car. His responses are clearly generic as the final price and the word "Prowler" are never mentioned. He insists on paying with Pay pal. He is waiting for me to set up the account and give him account numbers. And he wants it done ASAP. Too many red flags for me and that is why I asked about it. Thanks again.

Open a separate checking or savings account for $50

Give the account number to the buyer, and insist on a bank to bank wire transfer of all of the funds for verification purposes for both parties

OR

demand CASH, which the buyer can carry to YOUR bank for bill count and counterfeit clearance, and finally you deposit in your account, and then hand over the title to the vehicle with delivery.

In God we Trust,,,,all others pay CASH..

If they refused to either of those choices,,,,,tell them to step aside, you have other buyers interested.

Wire transfers when done between 2 parties who know each other are quite safe but in ecommerce, transacting business with someone you don't know is a different matter. Even if you have protected yourself with a small account specifically for this purpose, the buyer may not want to reveal their bank account information to a seller they do not have an existing trusted relationship with. This may complicate the transaction for the buyer in spite of the fact that it is safe. Most internet scams are perpetrated by anonymous wire transfer making the average person suspicious of all wire transfers. Most buyers will simply shy away from a wire transfer transaction.
When selling on eBay, you want to reach the widest possible buying community so simplicity and trust for the buyer is essential for success.

Ok here's how the scam goes........ Scammer lists a car for sale that he doesn't really own finds said buyer who he gives your bank wire info for a car that your selling, you get the money think everything is Ok , but by the time everyone finds out what happened your car is already on a boat to Nigera. Believe me I have seen it happen.

If you didn't spot this as a scam from the first second you read the email, you are in a world of hurt.

I get these emails from my Craigslist ads all the time. I play with the scammer, have them FedEx their bogus checks to me, and then watch them scream when I don't ship "my item."

I have gotten numerous almost verbatim emails from Craigslist ads as well.
Reply and tell them it's a CASH ONLY deal and you never hear another word from them.
