Does anyone know if the aluminum frame is coated with something or is raw aluminum?
Thanks

anyone try hydroflouric acid ( not to be confused with hydrochloric ) to clean aluminum?

It works great but precautions need to be taken.

Members have polished the aluminum, but I am not clear on why you would utilize this acid to "clean" the frame as opposed to polish?

AC ... where did you get that picture of Roger? Must have been post all his retorative dental work .... he's a right handome guy now!

Ray,

I've used it on Alcoa buds and fuel tanks on tractor trailers. The beauty of it is you just spray or brush it on and rinse it off. It takes away all the oxidization and leaves a bright, new like finish. It's diluted quite a bit with water.

It's something you could do on the prowler frame once every few years or so.

Hence the precautions. Don't use it on teeth. I found out the hard way.

But I'm hearing these ads on the radio now where you can an entire mouthfull of teeth implanted in one day. Gonna look into it. Sorry

They are raw aluminum. The last prowler has an anodized frame. I would not use hydroflouric acid. Unless you know well what you are doing and cover yourself properly, you're risking your life. One drop on the skin soaks in and can kill you. Brushing it on like paint, you would have to deal with drip control. Spraying it on puts the obvious in the air over a larger area. Like I said, you have to know what you are doing with this stuff.

Like I said it is diluted with water and there are precautions to take.. It would not kill you. I have used it many times and it is sold in truck stops. They spray it on the sides of aluminum trailers to clean them. Its perfectly safe if diluted properly.

It's available commercially as etching mag cleaner, pre-mixed in small bottles or we would buy a concentrate called Alumibrite in 1 gallon plastic bottles from truck supply places.

If not diluted properly it will kill you. Even diluting it it will still kill you. Maybe not as instantly. Diluting it still would not negate covering yourself from contact with it. To blatantly say it will not kill you is irresponsible. Especially when said to a novice.

I REPEATEDLY said it had to be diluted and there are precautions. If you don't want to use it, don't use it. But it is available in your local auto supplier and is a safe product when used properly.

I stand firm that this product will not kill you if you use it properly. Precautions are on the website above.

Water will not kill you if used properly. If not, it's extremely deadly. At least I can honestly acknowledge that. Some have great difficulty informing a novice that using an extremely deadly chemical improperly will kill you.
