I'd like to look into painting my bumpers on my 99 red. Thinking either red to match the car, or gloss black.

Anyone have any pics so I can get a good idea of what this will look like? Black shimmers as well if anyone has em

Thanks

Bob Hacker also has his bumpers painted red. They look very nice. Some colors, to me, look better than others with bumpers painted to match. On another thread, someone is considering doing it on a yellow car. To me, that color doesn't look as "natural" ... but again, all to each owner.

DES, I'm not sure yet, I'm hoping when I get it back the only thing that may hurt is my "head snapping back in the seat" with all the extra HP.
Ha ha.

These photos where done by a photographer out of miami.
He is great. The picture get's taken when it's kind of getting dark and you walk around the car with a large light. It picks up cool lighting angles of every part of the car.

Here is a link to his website check out some of the rides.

http://www.camerephotography.com/

Feel free to give him a call if anyone likes what they see.
I might bring him back to shoot the SRT hemi prowler when it's complete.
Only bad thing is I'm not in florida anymore.

Prowler freak do the bumpers it makes a red look great!!

Awesome, thanks everyone I'm having a hard time figuring out which one I like more though LOL

I'm leaning more towards red just like Ed's, with the black shimmers. Looks awesome

I agree with you that I too think that the black letter inserts help enhance the look of the painted bumpers. Either way you go, am sure you will enjoy "the ride"!

Instead of shimmers, I had a pinstriper paint the "Plymouth Prowler" on the bumpers. They gook great and only cost me $30.00, the shimmer are a heck of a lot more money and they don't stick all that great.

I'd disagree somewhat,,,,,The Shimmers Jay Harris made weren't that much more money, and I've had them installed on a set of bumpers for 12 years,,,with no problems. If one didn't follow the installation instructions by cleaning the bumper letters first with denatured alcohol,,,,I guess they might have a sticking problem due to their own neglect and mistake.

I like mine better, I filled mine in before paint).
Shimmers (or hand painted lettering) makes it just too much going on back there, (IMO).

I cleaned out the grooves with varsol and a Qtip. Then washed off the varsol with soap and water. Then blew out the grooves with air. They have been holding great. I am careful with a pressure washer though.

A "shimmer" is an applique product that was made by Jay Harris a long while back. There were several varieties and colors to fit in several recesses of the Prowler, and around interior and engine compartment areas too. The "shimmer" is no longer being produced. There are "alternatives" out there now though. Good prep is the key for proper adhesion

I can't find a good picture of Ken Gensheimer's yellow. He has Red Shimmers and it looks great. A huge improvement.
Here is a pic. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/010264.html

Scroll all the way through and see Ken's avatar, also.

Sandy painted the Candy bumpers with black finger nail polish. It is thicker and doesn't run as easily. I had the bumpers off the car to make it easier to do. That has been about 8 years ago, probably.
