I did a search on this part here on POA and found that it is the same part as an old Dodge Dakota, an old Dodge Ram, a neon, maybe a van, first generation Vipers, Durango etc.

Has anyone actually found this part at a junk yard on a different car, other than a Prowler?

I went to a junk yard and checked several vehicles, nothing was close to matching.

I lost one that had been chromed and am just going to replace both of them with stock but I was curious about them. Anybody actually DO IT ?

They are the same one used on mid-90's Dodge Dakota trucks,,,prior to '97 model year.

Find one at the junk yard, and you might get lucky if it still has them unbroken

I thought the interior door handles were from the Viper but on opposite doors - the driver handle form the Viper is the passenger handle on the Prowler. The power window and lock switch module in the door is from a Ram pick up. I bought them at a junk yard for $10 each several years ago.

Look for 1996-1999 Vipers and it may be only the RT/10s- not sure about the GTS coupes- they may have been different.

Marty, are you saying the HANDLE or the BEZEl? There is a lot of misinformation about this part here on POA and I am trying to get to the bottom of it.

A/C, are you SURE of that or is that what you were told? I looked at some old Dakotas and they were simply rectangular. I might not have had the correct year, I admit.

Ed,,,I looked at a '95 or '96 Dakota,,,and it appears to be the same one. '97 & forward,,,are different.

More likely to find Dakotas in the bone yard, than Vipers,,,,and I don't know about the older Viper's being the same? Anything is possible,,,,,parts bin cars, surplus parts....

The rubber brake pedal is from an early 80's Dodge Horizon model, lol (true)

Steering wheel,,,,came from the Jeep parts bin

Front rotors,,,,from the Dodge/Ply mini-van line

#1 It is amazing how many parts were used from other vehicles. I knew there were some, I did not know there were so many.

#2 Exactly how did you "lose" yours Ed??!!?? Rough housing or horse play in the KAT?

My main goal for this thread is to get to the bottom of what part is actually from a different vehicle and hopefully have the misinformation removed by the original posters so that in years to come we can find the correct parts more easily.

Ed - go here and click on image of driver's door the 5th image:

The bezel and handle are the same as a Prowler's
passenger door. Ithink this is true for 1996-1999 Viper RT/10s but no the GTS coupe models.

Yep, I agree it looks like the same parts. Good work.

This doesn't look like a match.

some people think that the prowler is just a hodgepodge of parts from other chrysler vehicles. I've heard people say that. But I'm sure most vehicle manufacturers use shared parts where it makes sense.

GarySSS, I am sure the Viper parts are just as rare and as expensive but if they are indeed from a Dakota, or Ram or Durango, they might be easier to find. Hard to believe a piece of plastic is worth that kind of money and they will become harder to find.

That nickel size piece of plastic that the stem of the headlight switch goes through,,,,a bird feather weighs more than it,,,,,,,,,,,,,$32. I bought one for $20, and thought I stole it.

Yes Ed that was my point about being a Viper part. I have heard that it was from Dakota also, but I think if it actually was someone would have posted this before. I hope it is, I'm no stranger to the junk yard. I've looked before but never found them, but might not have been the right year.

yeah, Tom, you know how I hate joking around and having fun. lol
So far we have determined that the early Vipers will fit, nothing else has been proven so far. I will keep messing with it for awhile just to help clear it up.
Mine were broken when I bought the car. The previous owner had a chrome piece glued to them and they would fall off, between the broken tab, the heavier weight and the lambo doors. Bad combo and I had to take them off to replace speakers so they just weren't much good any longer. It either fell off or got stolen but I can't find one so they don't match.
