As most of you know, and for the new members who don't, the members of POA have participated in the Walter P. Chrysler Museum's Adopt-A-Vehicle program for the last two years. The Museum is always very appreciative and are looking forward to our renewing the adoption of the 1997 Plymouth Prowler for 2012. The renewal for the Prowler adoption is coming up this month, so I am asking you to, again, help with the fee with voluntary donations for the adoption of the 1997 Plymouth Prowler. The renewal cost for the year will be the same as last year - $450.00 which helps to support the museum in the maintenance and care of the vehicles on display. The Prowler is the only vehicle in the Museum that is allowed to be sat in and touched. For the second year in a row, the Museum is holding their "Trunk and Treat" Halloween event in October. We set up a display featuring the Prowler for the kids to have photo ops. The kids (and adults) come in costume for the event and sit in the Prowler for photos. It was a huge success last year. For those of you in MI who might have children or grandchildren, please check out the Walter P. Chrysler Museum website for information an registration for the event. Many of you that have attended events here such as the Woodward Dream Cruises and the Prowler 10th Anniversary Celebration have visited the Museum and enjoyed their collection of vehicles. The adoption sign says "With gratitude to Chrysler for building a rolling piece of art that will always be an important part of American automotive history. With plenty of “Smiles Per Mile” we keep the Prowler spirit alive because “We DO Get It”!! The only thing that will change on the sign is the adoption dates. If you would like to be one of the “proud parents”, please send a check, money order or PayPal in the amount you would like to donate towards the adoption. Make check out to: PAYPAL: boblongstreth@comcast.net Thanks! Please post here or send me a PM if you would like to donate. Just your name, no amount.....just to help me keep track. I used to worry about kids touching the cars, but I have grown older (my wife says I grew up a little) and it doesn't bother me now. |

quote: I'm sorry you feel that way. What better way to get kids interested in cars. The Museum maintains the vehicles and the donation for adoption is what covers those costs. I wish you could have seen this event last year and what great excitement it brought to them to have their picture taken. We are very careful with the vehicle. Even the adults love it. I was over at the Museum last week checking out the space I will be using to set up the display around the Prowler. There was a man walking around the museum and when he got to the Prowler, he got in it after reading the sign that he could. I was watching him and he was just sitting there staring into space, thinking who knows what!!! I walked over and asked him if he had a camera and would he like me to take his photo in the car. He did and I did. He was grinning ear to ear!!!! When the car was given to the Museum by Chrysler, it was not a perfect car. When they started the adoption program, I made a list of things that the car needed done and they did all those things, including giving it a nice waxing. The only thing missing is one of the sun visors and they've not been able to find one. If anyone has one they don't want, they'd love to have it. It was the driver's side visor. You know how you feel when you are in your Prowler. This display (car) is a chance for everyone else who doesn't have one to experience it.......even just for a few minutes. I appreciate all who donate toward this adoption program as it helps the Museum maintain the vehicle. Prowler owners should be proud that they are helping the Museum by adopting this car!! |

On the subject of allowing people to sit in the Prowler at the museum, it brings to mind that when I enter my Kat in a car show (not to win a trophy I am the only participant that places a sign on my windshield that says "Yes, you may touch my car and sit in it, but don't ask to drive it." The Kat is meant for everyone to enjoy. |

I apologize for not posting this sooner. The last three weeks have been occupied with my sister who passed away. We have reached our goal of $450.00 and I would like to thank all of the owners who donated to the Prowler adoption at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum. The Museum is very appreciative and asked me to give all of your their thanks. As soon as the new sign has been completed, I will take a photo and post it. Prowler owners are the best!!!! |
