Clor coded? I doubt it. I am still running on my original battery, 2001 Kat. Pushing my luck, I guess.

Going to replace it?

That yellow top is nearly a $200 battery!! Leave it in until its death. That is a very good one,,,so keep it on a battery tender if the car isn't driven much....

That battery might outlive you,,,OR,,until the next time you have to open the hood

Why can't we get an "original type" battery like that which came with the Kat?

I thought it was original..hey it was yellow..i assumed red prowlers had red batteries, purple ones had purple batteries..etc...but the yellow top was 7 yrs old i think according the punch out on the dates..or 6+ ... and it kept dying so asta la vista.
but this whole situation forced me to open the hood, which i probably never would have

Walmart replaced my 2 year old battery yesterday under warranty while I was on a trip with no paperwork and no questions asked. Convenience is worth something. I believe Walmart batteries are made by Johnson Controls and they are a major battery manufacturer.

You might also want to check out some light weight batteries out there, which can weigh a lot less than the regular ones. They are becoming more popular and don't cost much more than regular ones. Good weight savings up front for little money. Cheers.

I suspended my battery from a bar above it going across to each bumper mount so my car would be lighter and faster.

My Optima red top was a POS and needed jumped constantly. It stopped holding a charge after 3 years, and I fought it for two more. I was finally smart enough to put in a generic wet cell battery from Auto Zone and so far no problems.

Replaced battery on old blue today, it didn't belly up, just figured it was time. The heat wave kinda made me think it was a good idea . Went with the Advanced Auto gold. Noticed that the whining noise I had from the drivers side speaker went away,so maybe that's what was causing it?
