Chrsyler has done something - they issued a recall many years ago (maybe 7 or 8) and have repaired all balljoints at no cost to owners. Most people on this site had the recall work done back then. You can search balljoint or recall and see dozens of threads about it if you want more info. This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 05-27-2011 at 04:21 PM |

It shouldn't matter if they came out with the new ones or not. If they came out with the new ones and they failed, he definitely needs to contact NHTSA to let them know of this. If they didn't come out with the new ones it should not have been sold to him without having the recall done first. If he ever had it at the dealer for any service they should have noticed the recall wasn't done and let him know they would do it then. If at any point he had the new ones on his car, he seriously needs to let NHTSA know about this. Chrylser won't tell them about it and if nobody tells NHTSA about the new ball joints failing too, nothing will ever be done about it. You can call the dealer or look it up online with the vin number to see if the recall was done. I would try online first, then see if the dealer confirms it and do it before they fix it for this, if possible, otherwise you'll have to find out if they are talking about replacing them after this failure or if/when they were previously done. |

I wasn't aware that any Prowlers came out with the new ball joints from the factory. I may be wrong but my impression is the recall happened after production stopped. If this is a case where the replaced balljoints are failing then I agree that is certainly a potential problem that all owners need to watch and if widespread, hopefully Chrysler will step up again. |

Good catch Marty and padroo. Sorry about my misinformation on that. I was thinking they had the recall sooner than that. |
