I have a 2001 Prowler. I've noticed that both panels on each side that the headlights are in are separating from the other panels. They are not flush with the other panels. I looked under the hood and noticed that the plastic tabs are broken where the panels mount to the frame. The panels are raised out about a quarter of an inch out. Does anyone else have this problem? Car is always garaged.15,000 mile on it. Any help please,

Sounds like someone took off the headlights and then tightened them too tight when re-installing them.
Can you show a picture so we can see exactly what you are talking about?

how about some good photos.the h/lites may be repairable.what are you talking about as far as panels not lining up.photos needed.many prowlers have misaligned side panels, the removeable ones with the 3 bolts in them.easy to adjust if thats the case.

Thanks for the replays. I will try and take some pictures and post. I'm not really sure how to do it but I will try. FYI The headlights have never been removed. Car is completely stock from the dealer. Nothing has been touched,no after market parts on this car.It seems like too much stress on panels-- flexing??

If it's completely stock and and no work done on it, then it could be that the panels weren't installed properly from the factory. If that's the case, like Ed said, they could have been tightened too much originally and caused some stress during shipping / driving. You should be able to obtain the plastic tabs from the dealer and they can help you replace them and make the adjustments.

The Prowler makes you smile. Why? Because it's focused. It has a plot, a reason for being, a passion. It evokes the hot rod. It evokes the American Dream. This car is the human psyche.

We went to Branson,Mo. 2 yrs ago . horrible roads ruff .tabs broke . and found the same problem . My fix was to unscrew push back in place. the made a small metal tab with a slight bend to them to hold them in place then tighten back down .. been Ok so far ...

to prevent the tabs from cracking and or breaking, heres a fix that works.use devcon 5 minute epoxy,to glue back together if tab is broken or cracked.remove all 4 bolts holding h/l in place.get 8 large plastic washers, got mine at ace.5/16 center hole and outer dia.about a inch and 1/4.use 2 washers for each tab,one below the tab to cushion it and one on the torx bolt itself.tighten bolts,do not overtighten,it doesnt take much to hold in place.adding those washers will help take up the vibration and prevent tab from cracking.mine have been in place for 8 yrs and 130.000 miles and are still doing there job,no cracks or broken tabs.extremely important to not overtighten.one of my tabs was missing a large piece that had broken anf fallen off, using devcon and masking tape repaired it.if you notice when the bolts are removed there is a space between the mount and the tab, could be 1/16 t0 1/4 inch, that one washer below tab will take up the space and absorb the pressure and vibration.even if no space on underside still use a washer.
