Hi,
I'm trying to get my Prowler on the road, but fear i may fail inspection with the current worn tires. It breaks down into 3 parts.
1) I need new tires
2) Need a decision on tire sensors
3) wheels are peeling

I priced run flats and although expensive I can manage the cost. Are they really that bad of a ride on a car I may only drive 2k miles a year? I carry a AAA card with me but find it's usually faster to change a tire than wait for a flatbed. I try to keep an eye on tire pressure but have picked up a nail or screw only noticing it when I return the vehicle in a parking lot away from home.

For tire sensors I'll lurk on the current thread.

My wheels need to be re-chromed or replaced. This seems to be my big hangup. I'm okay with the design of the wheels. Logic tells me I should address wheels, tires, and sensors at the same time. I got a price of $1,000 to do show chrome on the 4 wheels but I would need to find a way to ship them across the country while my car sits on jack stands. Has anyone found reasonable wheel choices without the use of spacers in the $400 a piece range? Should i just toss on some new rubber and deal with the wheels & sensors in the winter.

Looking for some direction and hoping to get on the road soon.
Rick

fastforward wheels in ca.excellent chrome work.most likely a lttle more than 1000.00 for all 4 plus shipping.if you have a good local place do em there.fact.sensors,batts good for 10 years.time for new sensors.i love the run flats for the handling qualities.the car is made for them.other people will disagree.do a searc, wheel or tire sensors.i believe the 02 sensors are way less money, you also must change the module also.there are a/m ones out there also.

I just went through the same dilemma. When I bought the car last August, both front wheels had some curb rash and all wheels had chrome that was flaking. I decided to keep the tires and sensors and get the Foose Legends. The fronts are 17x8's with 20mm offset and the rears are 20x10s with 20mm offset. I used stainless 7/16" collars on the front fender mounting studs to move the fenders out a little to keep the tires centered with the fenders.

Hope these pictures come up okay.

I'll get some other pictures with something other than my phone if it ever stops raining around here.

Hop this helps.

I currently have two Prowlers and one has run flats and the other one doesn't.
The difference is unreal. The runflats weigh about 15 pounds more EACH. I carry a plug kit and a small compressor. You can plug and fill a tire a lot quicker than you can get a wrecker to your location.
I will never buy another runflat.
I would mount the new runflat tires and leave the sensors and rims alone until winter. YOU have to decide.

Ed,

Which one has the non run flat tires, the totally stock one or the totally stock one?

P.S. Ed I only do this to you because you know I am kidding and you take it very well.

Re-chroming price was from Fast forward. They came highly recommended from fellow POA members. My problem being a reasonable way to ship 4 wheels 3,000 miles.

Good to hear some people actually like the runflats.

I know from prior owner's service report that at least 2 sensors are bad. Looks like changing out the 4 sensors and module might be the way to go. I probably wouldn't add tire sensors to a car but feel funny having black tape over the readout. If it's on the car I prefer it works.

Foose wheels look good! Only a 7/16" spacer on the fender mounts seems reasonable.

By all means replace the run flats. You'll be
glad you did & wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
