Hi Everyone Its Adam from England Proud owner of an apparently broken prowler. I recently purchased one of these great cars from Nebraska on eBay but unfortunately nose cone fell off on the ship showing a bad repair and missing front chassis cone underneath ! 1) Does anyone know where I can get this chassis piece behind the nose cone ( I fear it is part of the full chassis as i have looked through the very helpful online parts catalogue without success ) 2) If not ...As it seems to hold the anti roll bars in place i will have to get a piece made therefore does anyone know where can obtain detailed photos to copy the piece( as I will need to know how the battery and roll bars fit on) Any help will be very gratefully received

if you only lived in the usa, part you need is part of the frame, which means frame replacement, sorry but you bought a total.does your car have a salvage title, and if not,i would be calling the nebraska attorney general office. ------------------ |

That does not look good. Maybe if you post the vin number someone can look up the car for you. Nebraska Attorney General http://www.ago.ne.gov/ This message has been edited by Howard on 04-25-2010 at 01:33 PM |

Hi Adam, Catfish is correct. It looks like you may have purchased a wrecked vehicle, or the carrier who transported it dropped it at the shipping yard, or etc. These vehicles have very special heat treated aluminum frames. They are not repairable. It looks like someone took a air chisel and cut the front frame clip off the vehicle. I would first get facts as to who damaged the vehicle. EBay has some protection clauses.......good luck. I'm sorry this happened to you. |

I purchased her and was told had salvage title but fixed &drove ok and used for work etc. In England if a car has salvage title it is not let on the road again unless fixed properly so I assumed it had been. Is this not the case over there? |

Your seller may have "fixed" the car but made a mess of it. My guess is the "fix" was getting the nose on the car good enough to make it look passbale on the auction and then the duct tape fell off in transit exposing the mess underneath. The front of the frame looks like a typical brittle fracture in aluminum from a serious impact. I doubt it was ever fixed, just made driveable long enough to get a license to drive, then dumped on eBay. I'd spend the money on a lawyer before I'd put another penny into it. Sorry about your misfortune. Just curious, do you have a link to the auction so we can see what it looked like there? ------------------ |

in az you can get a restored salvage title, but the car must be fixed and it is reinspected by the state to make sure its fixed.you bought a total loss, you have no recourse.if it were mine i would find somebody who is a expert at aluminum welding and repair.i would have them make a frt hoop,is what i call the missing piece.with some 3 inch alum.tube you could mkes one and the brkts for the frt sway bar and put the nose on and your done.not financially worth it any other way and not really that hard for a alum.expert to fix it.that hoop realy does nothing excpet hold the horns and sway bar in place.once the english dmv sees unrepairer your done.shouldnt cost more than 400.00 to 500.00 bucks to get it fixed.good luck. ------------------ |

was told by somebody that this guy bought 2 totaled prowlers.a car fax doesnt mean crap, many totals never show up on car fax, therefore you cant trust it.beware.also the fact that the car has been in a accident may not show either.in the past, being in the collision business ive asked many people where carfax, gets there info and never got a answer. ------------------ This message has been edited by catfish on 04-25-2010 at 08:57 PM |

I remember my post on that car since that trashed Kat was somewhat near me. That was 5 years ago, so I doubt it's the same car, but who knows.... |

I wonder if this is the same Prowler I looked into last year. it was on Ebay and the price was low. When I found out it was a salvage car , I passed, but I ran a Carfax and it came back as salvaged. I also found it on the "retired Cats" listings. What a great idea this list is! Saved me from making a bad mistake. the vin and specs are: |

Adam, that is an unfortunate situation and I hope everything works out for you. Any information you can provide about the seller and the transaction would be helpful in insuring nobody else here gets involved. Good luck in resolving the issues. |

fyi,he has no recourse,he bought a car w/a salvage title.which means he new it was a total before he bought it.too bad, nothing worse than getting screwed.if he lived here in the usa,he might be able for some king of recourse, buying a wreck is at your own risk. id fix it and drive it. ------------------ This message has been edited by catfish on 04-27-2010 at 02:25 PM |

Here's the guy who had the Black Prowler for sale in July of last year on Ebay. I think this is your seller. Glad I didn't buy from him. [/font] Hi I have had a lot of offers and trade offers. I guess I need to know if you are looking for a straight trade and how would we do shipments? Thanks, Sean |

What a bummer. I belive if you want to try to repair it, it will be possible but finding the parts may be difficult. You are missing the Front Frame Assembly which is a servicable part of the frame as it serves no other porpuse then to hold the front clip, radiator support(of which you are missing most of), air bag sensors and relate stuff on the car. I have a Prowler Body Construction Manual that details the assembly. It is the only part of the frame that is considered replaceable. This manual will give you pictures with dimensions in two planes to assist you in fabricating the parts. It also shows the entire radiator support assembly so you can see what you are missing. If you are going to try to repair it send me your email address and I will scan to PDF files and send them to you. ------------------ web site and Escape the Ordinary |
