I'm not happy with what I got. Chris put in a lot of time, effort and $$$$ into this car only to have pieces destroyed in the shipping process from him to me! Not only that but the car looked like it was driven in the salt covered roads here in NY during the winter. I paid to have this car professionally transported to me in a enclosed trailer the whole way and to be delivered in ONE piece. Well looks like I got neither!!! Now I need to have both rocker panels replaced and a new exhaust put on since they decided to crush those pieces.

Don't get me wrong, I like the car but this isn't how I wanted to start out on my new relationship. I thought that I could just get in and drive this one without having to dump ridiculas $$$ into it to make it my own like everything else I get. Guess this means the Jodyizing will commence one I get back at the end of the month. Just the fun part of fighting with the shipping company to make due on their insurance will be nerve racking. They have already started with that they couldn't email the claim forms since my email address is invalid. SORRY but I get messages everyday to that email.

Don't mean to rant, just not real happy right now!!!!!

Sorry to hear,,,,,,,,,,WHO was the transporting company?

Did they have insurance to cover the damage? Many do not,,,claim they do, but are 'self insured'....

I had the same experience with DAS. I had it shipped enclosed and it appeared they run it off the ramps on the driver's side and cracked the rocker panel. DAS only paid $150 against damage.

When they picked up the car they came with an 18 wheeler HUGE 8 car OPEN hauler. After a few calls they said put the car on there and must go. So we to boards and pictues of loading car. After we got it loaded the driver said that he was only taking the car a few miles away for an enclosed trailer and I looked and him a little pissed as I could have driven it to the enclosed trailer that they said they had????????? I think they took the car most or part of the way up there on the open trailer JMO. I have pictures of the car leaving on it. Well we are working on this issue. Sorry Jody for the trouble.

I bought both of mine locally. I won't buy one even if it's a great deal unless I can drive it home. Not worth the expense and trouble of shipping. I would rather pay a little more for a car closer to me. Sorry about your Prowler, I know I'd be very upset.

That have an average two out of five start average rating. How do they stay in business? That really sucks that they damaged this beautifully maintained car. Was it the rear exhaust or side cut outs that were damaged. Since you mention quarter panels I am guessing the side. You are aware that the rear fenders and the under door quarter panels are all one piece aren't you. Which means if they were damaged then the chrome fender guards will have to be transferred. I am guessing that won't be easy without damaging the chrome.

Bummer - I have used Gary Almond the last three times and I will not use anyone else. He is fantastic. I have a friend who just purchased a Lexus and it was all scratched up when it arrived..... typical fight between the dealer and the shipper....

Gary Almond and Reliable are the only two ways to go. Gary could not haul my truck in his trailer, but has some folks he works with all the time who could. They just couldn't get to it for a while. Reliable did exactly what they said they were going to do, exactly when they said they were going to do it. AAAA++++ to Reliable.

Ya it was the side cut outs. The right one is now facing the right front wheel instead of out the side.

Unless I am mistaken, I believe Reliable had the original contact for hauling Prowlers to the dealers out of the plant.

Yes they did and they also hauled out the Vipers to dealers.

I will give Chrysler credit for hauling those cars enclosed, for added protection. While touring the Corvette plant in Bowling Green,,,,the 'Vettes go out on open transporters (rock chips, vandalism, sand blast, rain and hail possible)

Tom you could haul peoples car plus 1 Prowler and trailer across country, visit the area and haul 1 back or somewhere else and have your fuel and vacation paid for. Sounds like a good retirement job. Everyone knows how particular you are, You could haul mine for sure.

Thanks, I have considered that, would just have to re-register the rig as a commercial vehicle though.

I hate to hear about the damage to your Prowler. I had looked at the posting for Chris's car dozens of times and I was always amazed at the amount of work that has gone into it. Once you have it fixed and start enjoying it I bet the bad memory fades away.

Gary Almond has moved several cars for me and always done a great job.

I've used DAS several times, including shipping my Prowler from Texas to L.A., and a rat rod I bought on the board here from Florida to L.A.

I've never had any problem with them, no damage, and always found them very professional.

That said, I'd always take very detailed photos before they loaded the car, just in case.

But I also seem to remember that they did a very thorough walk-around with me, and noted even the tiniest bit of prior damage so they would not get blamed.

I know a lot of other people who have also had very good luck with DAS.

Sorry to se you had that problem. I have not used DAS, and probably wouldn't now. I always pick a carrier that is very well known and has GPS satalite tracking, so I always know where my car is located at any time. I have heard some horror stories over time, but all of my car shipping has been positive. Hope no one else has to deal with these type of issues. Hopefully they will come through and take care of your damages.
