I posted in the performance section, but maybe someone that can help didn't see it there. I am looking for a shop (or person with experience) in the L.A (preferably Los Angeles Countyr, but Orange is ok if that is all there is) area that can install the G-Force gears that I bought. I dont have the time or energy to do it myself, so I would like to just hire someone to do it for me. I appreciate the responses in the Performance section of the site, but any further information would really help me. Thank you!

Did you try to contact the Dodge dealership in Valencia? They might have an experienced Viper mechanic who might do the job.

I would be willing to help you install the gears. Someone on this site could probably give us some detailed information. We might also be able to recruit some local Prowler owners to help.

any chrysler dealer or dodge should be able to do it.its about a 3 hr job at most.since you have had responces and are posting again you've most likely have received all the responces your going to get.about 95 percent- dont have gears in there cars, just a small amount.since you dont want to do it yourself, best bet is one of the offers or a dealer.i'm sure somebody can recommend a reputable dealer in ca.if not youre on youre own.

Thanks Howard and Catfish! I will call the dealers and see what they would charge... and if that doesn't work, we might just learn together Howard!

Call Chrysler of Ontario. Ask for Kirk Irvine.

John Shakarain is the Prowler technician.

Maybe if you ask Larry Lord he might be able to help you.

Keith > hope this works:
http://www.asashop.org/maptest/advantage.asp?transaction=search&country=us&template=map_search&maxSearchResults=20&pageResults=100&address=&city=Valencia&stateProvince=CA&postalCod e=&radius=20&x=67&y=9

Find a shop from this map,,,,, approved (honest) auto repair shops in your area. If you have the install directions,,,,take with you to one, or more, of those shops, and show the owner or tech what you want to have done.

Since they have all the proper tools,,,,it is a 1.5 hour job to remove the OEM gears, and install the new gears,,,,, plus five or six quarts of AFT+4 transmission fluid. Roughly,,,you shouldn't pay more than $140 to $150 to install the gear package, plus the fluid, and shop fee for rags, etc. Anymore than that,,,, > they are robbing your billfold!

That leaves you installing your own "electronic speedometer adjuster" unit,,in the trunk, yourself. That's about a 1/2 hour job,,,following the instruction sheet > fairly easy job.
Good luck,,,,,you'll enjoy your new, fast shifting, Prowler

Make sure you fill the tranny properly. You need to put it into EACH gear and then re-check the level. Dire consequences if they don't do it correctly.

If you need help let me know, As most know I know everything.

I've did a few set's of them and had fun doing them. We make an afternoon of it and it is pretty e-z.

I've got all the stuff to drain the Trans oil before starting, and something you will want to remember is to find the rubber seal on the lefthand gear ( as your looking at it) and put it back in.

If you run into any problems call me and I will help.

I still have spear set's laying around waiting.

If your going to have a professional do the job it should take about 1 1/2 hours , if you going to do the job yourself it might take 2 hours, So if your getting prices don't let them tell you it is any more then that. Or explain to them that is what it takes.

I did two sets in a morning last year and was out test driving them by noon. (just so you know)

That's a crock.
If there has been any type of problem I would like the full details and will arrange a meeting with the service manager to discuss it.
Ontario Chrysler is the best service dealer on the west coast and there has never been any problems of anything like this.

I would have to agree with Larry, not only have I had my Kat worked on by John but I was invited in at the start of the work to be shown what he was doing and also at the end. John even took time to show me some points to look for under the car while it was up on the rack, pointed out the tranny sensors and asked if I had any question before leaving..

GREAT SERVICE.... BETTER TECHS and just super people

I had my Prowler serviced at Ontario Chrysler several times, and I never had a problem. Kirk and John are great people.
