I'm voting with Grant the Lawndog,,,,,,,,,,guilty! The copier/owner should be required to run the OEM, nasty, amber side marker lights on their side panels,,,so we can tell 'em apart on the road. Flattery,,,,,maybe. Without some sort of pre-warning or asking to duplicate the design,,,,,,unethical, imo. |

The truest form of flattery is when someone takes your idea and uses it. Personally I like Sno's version better simply because I'm not much into glitter...but that's just me. Having seen Sno's car in person I'd like to point out that the colors shown here in the photos are not accurate. |

So all you guys see is the paint scheme? What about everything else beyond the paint scheme? Dean has done an incredible job in the 5.0 plus all the extras not detailed here? I have not seen anyone else take on challenges like this beyond Plymouth coming out with this Prowler design? I wonder why Dean has never been appreciated around here. I have never quite figured it out beyond this paint scenario?? If it was any other Prowler I would dare to say most of you would say ... OH, AHHH, AWESOME, YOUR'RE THE MAN!!.. It is almost like those pictures with a beautiful woman and a beautiful car. Most of us men would primarily remember more of the female than the vehicle. |

quote: Dan, I'm really surprised that you would bring this topic back up and go to the defense of one who obviously took the representation of Sno Man's car to profit from it. Did you read the email Tom posted? Its here in this Thread, maybe you should take some more time and read it again. Then maybe you'll understand why "Dean has never been appreciated around here"... Dan, Why bring this up again at all? If you are referring to the fact that some of us have purchased gears from Tony and not Dean as being a lack of respect. Here is why I and I suspect others have. Some people on this board have deep pockets and money is of no object. I really respect them for that and I am also envious as well. While others such as myself are while not being poor by any stretch, however we personally live from paycheck to paycheck. Hell I still don't even own my Prowler yet. Thankfully I am very very close. You have made the statement in the past that you never had to finance a car. So apparently you are financially better off than I am or ever have been. I am honestly happy for you. For myself I have to go for the best price available. When I purchased our gears from Tony I saved in excess of $500. For me that is an significant amount of money. I can only imagine what it would feel like when $500 is considered pocket change. I don't know the whole story about the copying of Sno's paint scheme but on the surface it sure does not look good or right. This message has been edited by BeWare on 01-24-2008 at 09:45 AM |

Rich Ware, Ok, I will drop the subject. I just felt beyond the paint job many things were very different but oh well. Larry Lord, Interesting view point you have of me "hypocrite like you". You sure have it in for me don't you! I think you and I should have lunch and chat. Posting like this behind a keyboard at times can be very unproductive. If things don't change, I will be in Fullerton California next month, would you be willing to hook up for lunch and chat? I will pay? Hey Buddy, Yes, I have finally read it. I figured a side by side comparison would be interesting to see. I see this is not the case. Later.. |

I could be wrong here, since we have not been told who "staff" really is, but I assume Dan is a member of "staff" and we should all follow his example, NOT chance getting banned for flaming him for obviously and flagrantly going against the POA rules by posting this thread. But like I said... I COULD be wrong... |

quote: Bob......that's what they say, but in my opinion it's just copying. When I first had my louvered side panels done for my Candy Car we had three sets done. If I could have afforded it at the time, I would have kept all three. However, we sold two sets.....one to Marc Scarbeary and the other to Larry Bell. When people saw them, lots of them expressed how much they liked them and "were there anymore?". As I explained back then......Pete Chapouris and I specifically designed them for my car. We spent a year working on the design and how we were going to do them, so I have always felt it was "our" design. Now, I was flattered that everyone liked them.....but I did them to make my car unique to me.......not everyone else. Because we CHOSE to sell the other two sets, obviously there were two more cars with the same louvers. Marc's car (because of his engine) has a totally different look than mine even with the panels. Larry Bell put them on his yellow car. I may be wrong, but I remember it being stated that he put them on his yellow cat instead of his Candy Red in deference to mine...and I really appreciated that. Could I stop anyone from copying? No. Was I the first to do louvers? No.........but I did my own type of louvers and design........copied no one. We all want our cars to be unique to ourselves.......what fun is it to modify your car for yourself and other people modify to look just like yours? These cars all started out exactly the same...modifying was done to be unique and different to each individual owner. I'm all for modifications, but be creative and come up with your own design/idea. I usually stay quiet on stuff like this, but reading crap like this is getting old. A few of my friends have been banned from here for doing less harm than this. I have read the Terms of Service and it to me is a violation that should be dealt with. It seems to fit the definition of a troll post that's for sure. So are rules only written for some, and not apply to others? |

It is not fair to use a different set of standards of postings for the general membership as compared to the "administrative staff", if that indeed has happened. It is and has been apparent that some seem to get by with "trolling" and others get banned or worse yet get banned for trying to stand up for themselves or just responding emotionally to a subject. I also understand that the administrative staff has no obligation to discuss any of their decisions, in open forum. Perhaps this discussion should be done with the offending parties so that it is clear why someone's privileges are going to be lifted from this site. In ether case how about dumping all this BS from "our site". JMO |
