Thanks POL, due to your new posting rule I was unable to receive a message( although I have over 20 postings) that cost me the purchase price of a front licence bracket that I thought I needed to pass inspection here in NJ. The message was that all I have to do is place the plate on the dash If your bad rule had not been in effect I would have gotten the message and cancelled the order and gone to inspection. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS |

It is POA, not POL just FYI. Without the POA you would not have even had the avenue to find out any of that info. Try to lighten up and enjoy the site, in spite of a very few rules. |

Not sure who gave you that info but Depending on the DMV inspector you may find out the info you got is wrong. I found that out the hard way When trying to register my 1967 Buick leSabre & had my front plate on the dash, he failed me for just the plate after he inspected the whole car. He stated that a my license plate should be promently displayed & properly attached to the car & that my dashboard just did not qualify. So that I should come back when I fixed it Plus I couldn't do it right then & there because the line was to long for me to hold it up, By the time I got out of line & fixed it they closed the inspection line & I had to come back the next day. Hope this helps. This message has been edited by toys on 12-25-2007 at 03:14 PM |

A small price to pay to save some of the good people here from being victimized by others. The new software when in place will give a POA member more control of pm's if you so choose. Make another post and then enjoy. For those who don't know there are options in the PM section to "Ignore" and forward pm's. If anyone is being harassed by PM's please use the forward function to Mike Krehel(some have) and then set the Ignore function to protect yourself. Happy Holidays and please by all means use the Internet to find the info you need for your Prowling Pleasure. FYI, caps means you are screaming, just in case you didn't know. |

Toys, Thanks for the advise and info. I plan on installing the bracket and going to inspection. The bracket is a quality piece of work that anyone would be proud to display including me. I haven't mounted it yet but I favor the cleanest look for the front of the car ,once on I my change my mind. Whatever I decide doesn't reflect on Art's work and my appreciation of and for it. AL |

I am confused about this rule. Does this mean, starting now I would have to make 25 posts before I can PM another member? I am pretty much a lurker with little to say but have used the PM option to contact other members. Have I misunderstood something? Tom |

Toys, If you failed inspection in NJ for no front plate, the inspector broke the law. Motor vehicle rules prohibit that. Check the NJ Administrative Code. Chris |

AlleyCat, I'm not very good with math but I think your 23,164 posts should be larger than 25. I dare to say you do have enough posts to send pms...

I know there were issues when it rolled out. There was one that had a problem getting/sending a PM. I looked at that person's profile thinking they didn't have 25 posts and they showed to have in excess of 150 posts. I have more recently seen members that I know to have ample posts, but haven't posted much recently, that are having PM issues. |

quote: Every time I hear or read a story like this it reminds me of why I could have never survived a career in civil service....If you took your car home, attached the plate, came back and had it re-inspected and approved, then take it back home and remove the plate the inspector is in the clear.... I imagine the inspector could have lost his goverment pension if he had just made you promise to fix it and "signed off" on your inspection. This reminds me of when I took my daughter to get her first drivers license years ago....We walked in,....(no one else was waiting)....but they made us "take a number" for service.... |

I sold my t-bucket to a man in Iowa a few months ago. He had to raise the headlites put fenders on it, put exhaust covers on it and put bumpers on it. After the insp. it all came off and he drives it all over with no problem. Go figure?????????? |
