hay guys I am going to visit with inlaw family this weekend. landing in Nashville and driving though to the Great Smoky Mountains... anyone in this area want to meet up for a coffee ???? |

Don, I would highly recommend staying up in Townsend, TN. You are out of most of the traffic and you can drop down the hill into town on a very scenic route. You are very close to the Nat. Park entrance and Cade's Cove. It is MUCH easier to get into Townsend from Knoxville than it is to arrive into Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, especially on a Friday or Sat. That can take well over an hour most weekends. If you are going to shop in Gatlinburg, disregard all of the above. If you are going to sightsee, run the Tail of the Dragon and avoid traffic, try Townsend. Much less crowded and not that far away. Still very scenic. |
