The Cincinnati group is beginning to organize our trip to Woodward on Wednesday, August 15 and would love to have travellers from "down" South and "up" North join in if your timetable works with ours...

So far, the plan is for Ed Monahan, his neighbor, and Roarin' to depart from exit #14 of I-75 at 11:00 a.m....
I'll be joining in at exit #36 at about 11:20..... We'll be traveling North on I-75 and pass through the downtown Dayton area (exit #52) around 11:45. (I think Tom Miles and Eddie Powell indicated they will be overnighting around Dayton so maybe they can join in)

Dan Lawrence will be joining us at exit #93 (North of Sidney)around 12:30....

With less than a week to go, we need to get "organized" and will try to "fine tune" the schedule a little more....If you want to join us at any point let me know by posting a reply or PM me or Ed.....We need cell phone numbers and what exit you'll be at....That way, we can phone ahead as we're traveling to let you know our ETA...

It's important that once we begin, those wishing to join us be on the entry ramp as we pass by....If we tried to pull off for each new traveler we'd never be able to have any kind of reasonably accurate timetable....

We will be stopping at rest areas and lunch and IT'S NOT GOING TO BE A RACE to Woodward.....but those wanting to join in need to be waiting for the group,... not the other way around

Let us know if you're interested....This is going to be a great trip and as they say, "getting there is half the fun!"

Just FYI. I can make it from Dayton to Detroit in about 3 1/2 hours. Cinci is 45 minutes from Dayton and I think that the Hotels are about 45 minutes from Detroit. So maybe 5 hours out from Cinci would be about right I believe.

John

Laddie, Bowling Green is about 3 1/2 hours away, to the best of my recollection. If you come up this way, take I-264 around Louisville and NOT I-265. 264 is quite a bit shorter according to Sandy, who lived there for 10 years.
Marty, correct that if it is wrong.
Eddie Powell and Tom Miles, you would want to stay in Florence, KY, which is about 10 miles south of the river. You would have a 24 mile drive to meet us. Plenty of hotels and restaraunts right there. I would recommend the Turfway Rd. exit and turn right and right again. It is about exit 183, but I am not positive of the number. You will pass an exit for Rt. 42 and then it will be the second exit after that one. That is the best bet.

Hi Mac!....Looks like you'll be traveling about 100 miles West on the Ohio Turnpike from your home to exit #64 where I-75 North intersects and where we would "meet up".....We'll let you know an approxoimate ETA as soon as possible....Let Ed or me know your cell phone number and watch this post for approximate ETA's at various points (including exit #64) along I-75...We'll give you an estimated time and call you on your cell about 15 minutes before passing the intersection...be ready to roll..

Sounds about right, John....It's about 280 miles from Ed's to Auburn Hills....Could be 5 to 6 hours depending on traffic and rest stops....Keep in mind, the older we get, the smaller our bladder becomes..

Let Ed or me know what exit you'll join us at and your cell phone number...An estimated ETA will follow asap...

From Fla, we have Tom & Linda Miles and picking up Eddie & Jean Powell and Steve Clark in Ga. Maybe Laddie & Karen from LA.
There will be Jack & Rhonda M. in a 99 RED and me at exit 14, followed quickly by Roarin Lee Schaeffer around exit 23 or so. Not sure which was he comes to I-75. Then Bob Johnson, then John Buehrle and then Dan & Alice Lawrence. When we get to Toledo, I know it is probably Mac & Bonnie MacKeown, Rod and Vicki Endsley and Jim & Denise Warner.
I compiled a cell phone list and emailed or PM it to the 13 on the list.
Am I missing anyone ?
Did anyone NOT get the list by email or PM ?

Laddie, I think you may be correct on that. I don't think all of KY is on Eastern.
Sounds like we might get real close to 20 cars rolling in together.

Laddie - I assume you will be stayin at Exit 22 in Bowling Green - lots of hotels in that area. BG is on Central time, you'll hit Eastern time about 50 miles south of Louisville. Ed(Sandy) is right - you'll save a few minutes taking I-264 East - The Watterson Expressway off I-65 vs the outerbelt I-265 Snyder Freeway unless it is rush hour. I-265 is about a 17 or 18 mile distance between
I-65 and I-71 North and you may a little traffic in rush hour near I 64 but still better than I-264.

You all have fun. If you come through Louisville on your way home, let us know if you are stopping for dinner or the night!

IF you go the I 264 Route, once you pass Snyder Freeway there wil be exits for Outer Loop, Fern Valley Road and then Preston Hwy. I-264 is just after Preston - the Louisville AIrport will be on your left - get in the righthand lane.

Since we have picked up quite a few more folks, I think it would be wise for us to meet at exit 15. There is a fairly large gas station there, just off the exit and plenty of parking. All the folks coming from the south/southwest can pull in there and gas up and be ready to roll at 11 AM, hopefully.
We will get on at 14 and get right back off at 15 so we are all together. We still need to plan on pulling out of there at 11 AM so the folks up north of Cincy do not have to wait for us.
For the folks from Dayton north, I would think you ought to factor in an additional 15 to 30 minutes for us to get there. Large groups do not travel quite as fast for some reason. (more potty breaks, etc). I am trying to be realistic so you aren't sitting for an hour waiting on us.
I will try to keep it moving and if folks have to make a stop, they can try to catch up with the pack but I am sure we will need one quick stop in there somewhere.

Ed, There's a rest area on I-75 North at the 80 mile marker (just North of Troy, but before you get to the Piqua exit)...That would be about an one hour drive from exit #15 and might be a good spot to take a break.

I think that I'll plan on joining up with you there instead of exit #29...I'll see if Dan will be there too.

Bob
