My girlfriend and I spent a rainy Memorial Day weekend in Tulsa preparing for the Tulsarama event. We enjoyed our stay at the Embassy Suites Hotel and met the staff who are working with us. They were very helpful. At the hotel...we designated our reserved parking area and located an area for washing cars at the hotel. We learned that they have hired extra security to watch our cars at night. We tested out the FREE breakfast buffet and the FREE "manager's reception (FREE BOOZE) from 530-730pm. We also made sure that they will have the bar adequately stocked for our event! The rooms are nice and the beds are very comfortable. I think everyone will enjoy staying at the hotel. We secured a parking garage for Friday evening for the unveiling of the buried car. It is about a block and 1/2 from the event site. We will all be able to park together in a covered parking garage, for only $4 a car! The cruise routes were driven again, to make sure there were no new construction or other obstacles since we planned them several months ago. Everything is pretty and green due to our high rainfall this year. All of the lakes we pass on the cruise are full as well. It will be a nice drive for everyone. Lunch for the Sunday cruise has been planned at the Restaurant of the Cherokees. They have a large banquet room just for us. The food will be prepared and waiting on us. The meal will be buffet style, so no waiting for them to cook and deliver our food. There is a set price of only $10 per person....for lunch, drink, tax and gratuity! There is also a gift shop there with Oklahoma T-shirts, Native American art and jewelry, etc. We also re-drove the Route 66 cruise to Okc for Monday. There are several photo opportunities along the way. I am planning on everyone staying together for the drive to Okc so we can arrive together in Okc. There will be printed driving directions so you can drive back to Tulsa at your own pace and stop to shop or take photos anywhere you like. Both T-shirt orders have shipped via Priority Mail. Rich is still taking orders for shirts to be delivered at the Tulsa event. There is no event fee this year, so the t-shirts are our only source of income for event planning. If you haven't ordered your shirts yet, please do so NOW! As a side note...this is Oklahoma's Centennial (100 year anniversary of statehood). There are lots of events planned and the cities have really done a lot to prepare for the celebration. The American Bus Association rated the Centennial Celebration as the #1 U.S. Even for 2007. This is a great year for the POA to be in Oklahoma. Vince Gill wrote a song just for the event. The Oklahoma Dept. of Tourism is offering a free DVD featuring the song and photos of Oklahoma. click the link below to get the free DVD. It's the 3rd item down on the page...Oklahoma Rising DVD.
WE ARE TWO WEEKS AWAY FROM TULSA! I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING ALL OF YOU THREE... |

ZACK, thanks a million for this crucial leg work. I definitely could not have pulled this off without you assistance. The reserved parking on Friday is a huge help. To add to what Zack has posted , I believe he advised that the parking garage is not going to be open to the general public and will be for our use only on Friday. I am sure Zack will correct me if I am wrong. The only day we are anticipating having to have a early AM start will be on Saturday June 16 for the Car Show. All entries have to be on the show lot by 9:45 AM. So far our club has the largest turn out for the Open Car Show. Other participating clubs are Plymouth Owners Club, Southwest Mopar Club, Green County Triumph Club, Green County Corvair Group, Oklahoma Kit Car Club, Early Rods of Tulsa, Route 66 Cruisers, Classic Chevy Club and The Crewzers This message has been edited by BeWare on 05-31-2007 at 02:31 PM |

Great job guys. I am bringing the White 16 foot enclosed trailer, so I hope there will be space to park that at the hotel! Hopefully I can show it to all those that have sent me a PM about it's possible sale. I have only had one price suggestion, so I will be looking for input! lol The Monster Kat House on Wheels is not ready for travel yet, so it will be staying at home. |

I've been with the car hobby for a long time, but never met people so willing to pitch in & help anyway they can. I'm really glad to be in the same company with so many outstanding & helpful people. Never knew what the group was like when I saw all the Prowlers going down Woodward a few years ago.I'm happy to be a part of the POA. Looking forward to Tulsa in a couple of weeks & meeting some people I haven't met . Thanks, Zack & Rich |

I was going to order over the phone and when I called, she said she would send the items out to me, but that I had to get the route 66 brochure by calling a different number. After I mentioned the car club, she asked if she could send me a bunch of items for me to pass out. I told her I would have no trouble passing out all the route 66 brochures or DVDs she could send, and she said that she could only send one DVD per address. She gave me a number to call for Route 66 specific info from some route 66 club. They have something that tells all the do's and don'ts, places to go, places to stay away from, etc., but they charge for it. I didn't call, but if someone wants to call, the number is 405-258-0008. I'm not sure after all that, but I THINK I have some info and a DVD coming my way... any extras I get will be given out at Tulsa. I think she was going to give me like 100 of everything.. |

Thanks everyone for all the nice things you said. galaxie....I agree...not a nicer group of people in the world! I sold my Prowler last summer, but I'm staying involved because of the people in this group. rraite....Richard, I'm sorry to hear that you will be missing out on the Sunday cruise. It will be a memorable one! Looking forward to seeing you and Janet for the rest of the events. ed....I'm glad you like the shirts. They were more work than I anticipated, but I too am pleased with how they turned out. Our plan is for everyone to wear them to the unveiling on Friday. Some have ordered several shirts to wear on other days as well. TLRandall...yes, there is pleanty of parking for trailers. The enclosed type like yours and the Prowler trailers as well. Good luck on your sale! DUSTI..."Bottoms up!" idive...Sorry to hear that you got the run-aruoud with the tourism dept. Great minds think alike...I had already tried to get a bunch of DVD's and I was told the same thing. One per address. It's free, and so is the shipping, so everyone who wants one will have to order their own. See you all in Tulsa! 13 days and counting.... |

Cruise planning is almost complete! I have spent the last few days on the phone with about a dozen police departments in northeastern Oklahoma. The good news is, everyone I have talked to has agreed to provide traffic control as we pass through their town. I'm waiting on final approval from just a few, and we should be able to cruise through the entire route without any stops! I can't begin to tell you how nice the police chiefs and administrators I talked to have been. So, I'll probably say this more than once when we get there.....PLEASE smile and wave (with all five fingers) at the officers that are giving us a free pass through red lights and stop signs! Here's an idea of the number of towns we'll be passing through....Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Coweta, Wagoner, Tahlequah, Kansas (yes...Kansas is a town in Oklahoma. Too small to have a police dept, so the Deleware County Sheriff will be there), Locust Grove, Salina, Pryor, Claremore, Virdigris (handled by Rogers county Sheriff) and Catoosa. That's just the Sunday cruise....I still have to work on the Monday cruise via Route 66 from Tulsa to Okc. Not as many towns along the way, so it shouldn't be so bad.

Great work, Zack........giving a friendly wave is the least we can do. Believe me, I know first-hand what an effort getting that many people around is. I am hoping for the same cooperation from the local law enforcement at Dream Cruise! See you soon! |

One more update to Zack's post. The parking fee has been changed to $6.00. The $4.00 fee meant that once you had parked you would not be able to leave the garage then come back. We figured many if not most folks would want to go back to the hotel after the unearthing and then return for the 6:30 unveiling. The $6.00 fee allows us to do this. I think it's worth the extra $2.00 to have that flexibility. This message has been edited by BeWare on 06-08-2007 at 08:11 AM |

$4 - $6 - whatever you think is best if fine. Rich/Zack - From past experience I know what you all are going through now. Most people will have no idea how many little details you are dealing with and just how many decisions you have to make so all of us can have a fun time. We really appreciate it and PROMISE to have a great time so you know efforts are not being wasted. |

Zack & Rich, thank you for all the coordinating and scheduling you are doing so a bunch of Prowler owners can have a blast (some other makes accepted, LOL). The cruises sound fantastic just from the names of the cities we will go through. We have friends here in The Villages from Tulsa area and they are amazed at the planning and organization and the fun places we will go. Starting packing today, so I can re organize next 4 days. LOL. Thanks to all who will attend for helping make this an EXPERIENCE to REMEMBER. |
