I had a great conversation with Dr. Ru today and I am happy to announce that he will have a special involvement with the 10th Anniversary / Dream Cruise event and the Prowler owners. He very much wants to participate with the club and all it's activities. He has most generously offered his pinstriping services to the Prowler owners during this event. On Thursday, August 16, Dr. Ru will have a tent set up in the hotel parking lot from approx. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be large enough to accommodate working on a car. He can do pinstriping, touch up on the existing pinstriping he has done on the Prowlers, etc. For those who aren't interested in this, I will have another activity planned. For those of you who don't know who Dr. Ru is........ Dr. Ru's full name is Rudy Kutey. He has been a pinstriper for over 30 years beginning his career pinstriping cars and motorcycles. One day, while he was pinstriping a man's car, the man began using some foul language. Rudy asked him what the problem was and the guy replied, "I'm a Doctor and you should have been a doctor, too. I've never seen hands as steady as yours." Rudy told the doctor that he would rather stick to his business because there was no malpractice in what he did!! Friends were teasing him about the doctor's comment and said they were going to start calling him Doc. It ended up being Dr. Ru (Ru being short for Rudy, of course). He is self-taught and has said that other pinstripers told him that when he signed his name, he should be able to put a dime over it and hide it. That's why it is so small. Normally, he signs his name "Dr. Ru, that's who!" In the late 1990's Chrysler contacted Dr. Ru again and commissioned him to stripe the Woodward Prowlers. The Black Tie, Mulholland and Inca Gold followed. It takes him approximately 15 minutes to stripe one Prowler, which includes drying time. He striped about 10 cars a day. Dr. Ru has pinstriped several other vehicles for Chrysler, including some antique cars. Owners interested: Beyes, Rick This message has been edited by CJ on 07-30-2007 at 04:56 PM |

Kees....... I guess I can start a list so he will know who is interested. I don't know what his fees are for his pinstriping, I'm guessing it depends on how much work is done. I'll see if I can pin him down to a price range. and no.........it will not intefere with the Go Kart Championship. That will be held on Friday. |

CJ, This keeps getting better and better! I can't believe that the master himself is offering this service. I have wanted my 99 pin stripped for years, but up until this moment did not trust 'local' shops. I AM 100% IN !! Cash, Check, MasterCard......left or right kidney!! (you have no idea how much you have cheered me up today!) |

Dr. Ru is a pin striper. He can do whatever you can dream up and some things that you can't. All you have to do is work with him. He's very talented! |

Okay, just got off the phone with Dr. Ru and here is more info: It will be on a first-come, first serve basis (as he says whoever gets out of bed first that morning). Paul.....The work is done on a per job basis. Depending on what you want done, some may take less time than others or more time than others. He factors in about an hour a car depending on the amount of work. Lou....Always happy to cheer you up, but Dr. Ru said your kidney is not necessary!! Gary....yes, he can do more than just a stripe....he does custom work.
The standard factory striping job that was done originally on the Prowlers ranges from $125 - $150.00 Custom work ranges from $150.00 and up depending on the amount of work. He accepts Cash or Check........no credit cards. Hope that helps!!! This message has been edited by CJ on 05-24-2007 at 11:20 AM |

You can have someone organize a Dr. Ru camp out like they use to have here in California and other parts of the country, when people were trying to buy a new home. Bring your tent or trailer, sleep in the parking lot for 3 to 7 days, and the person who waited the longest has the first opportunity for Dr. Ru to do some pin stripping. Great job CJ. You have made many people happy. This message has been edited by Howard on 05-24-2007 at 08:27 PM |
