Like many of you Cat owners out there. We have seen and heard of some very talented guys making some reproduction parts of the original stock ones.

Was wondering if someone out there could manufacture a few parts cheaper and sell them to all who would buy them.

For example: Headrest covers are very pricey and do not cost that much to produce. Transmission Cooler covers and other parts that can be sold at a more reasonable price.

I could never understand why people have to get rich or gouge the hell out of you for some of these parts.

What are your thoughts on this subject?

Let me hear what you think.

That's my 2 cents worth.

I can't speak for everyone, But as far as the trans cooler covers , that are made by O C Prowler, Those covers have to be water jet cut, bent , trimmed, and polished, and some painted, There is alot of expense that goes into these, Not very much profit at all. Alot of other items have to have molds made, I thought the same way you did, until I looked into the after market business. Alot of the products you see made by members here took alot of time to do, and alot of money out of their own pockets, and only selling several,to recoup their costs , It sure would be nice to find it at a lower price, but you will never get the quality and perfection that you have seen here.

These Prowler after market parts have a limited market. To start off with only 11,700 potential customers. A large percentage of those (I'm guessing at least 50%) intend to keep the car stock. If Bob at Real Rod was getting rich off the parts he was developing and selling. Then why would he have had to go find another full time job? It's the age old story of supply and demand.

I am just glad that people are willing to make parts with such a limited demand.

Dave, I agree whole heartedly. I just thank them for their efforts and results. If I can afford it, I buy it. If not, it will not change my life one bit.

I buy a few items every year and the rest go on my wish list. If its something I really want, I call WildCat and have him talk my wife into it!

There is nothing that is made that can't be made cheaper when price alone is the only factor.

Also any and all part's made for the prowler are a limited market. However where is nothing wrong with a little competition, So have at it. I love buying thing's for my prowler. Make something I can buy for my car.

I kinda agree with both sides of the issue.
Unfortunately, I do believe there are some members that are over charging for what their selling.
I know with the items that I'm making, it's not to make a huge profit. In some items, like the convertible boots, I felt I could make them for less and I think a better quality, Same for the Battery Covers. And I think your all familiar with my Cooler Covers by now. I'm not trying to steal Ideas from anyone, I just think Fellow POA Members should not be taken advantage of, and should get the best quality they can for their money. Its people like Howard, who is working on knock offs and myself, and others that spend there time, not for big profit, just trying to look out for their fellow members and friends.

I always thought prices on these items were reflective of the production costs and very, very marginal profit...
To support the vendors on this site is definitely the right the thing to do...it's always a 2 way street. After all, products are only worth what someone is prepared to pay for them...and personally all the mods I bought I could justify the costs!
