My speakers are going bad now. The bass sound is cracking. I hardly ever used my Radio and the speakers are going bad. Has anyone else here have this same problem?

What can I do to replace these crappy speakers?

Please help!

Thanks!Text

Alot of us have the same problem.
I just oredered new ones on Ebay from True Value Electronics.
For the doors use Infinity Kappa 63.7i.
Dash and rear are Infinity Kappa 32.7 cfx, these are all 2 Ohm.
The doors are about $200 retail and the dash and rear $100 if you can find them in stock, I got them for $80 and $33 respectivelty plus $30 a pair for shipping.
Eric.

I have had 3 in one car and 2 in another go bad and had them replaced on warranty with the Max Care extended warranty. The originals lasted 6 years.

We the drivers side door speaker go bad within the first year. It was replaced under warranty. The passenger side just went bad just shy of 8 years. I just last week purchased some Infinity Kappas 63.7i 's on ebay. However it's been too cold to install them.

Make sure you check out the 'search' area on this web site. Type in speaker replacement and a load of information will appear. Use Pumpkins step by step instructions to replace the speakers and you can not go wrong. On my door speakers the glue let go which holds the cone to the frame. Just a weak design. Replace them and do not use OEM speakers again.

Both of mine went bad. Not smart enough to replace them myself. The dealer did it for the same price that I got from Best Buy. I could only replace them with what I got from the dealer because of the ohms or something like that. I very seldom used them and when I did I did not abuse them. I think they just go bad with time.

They dry out and then separate at the outer edge of the cone, where the plastic and foam pad is attached to it. This happens both in-the-car and on a storage shelf. If the outer pad comes loose, throw them away. And if you have spares, store them face down on the pad, not face up on the magnet. Stuff just gets old..

I've replaced mine four times but they were cover under warranty. When they pop again we'll replace with the Infinity Reference Speakers or Kappas. Just replaced all my Dakota speakers with infinity reference and they are awesome.

I replaced mine about a year ago. I've always been partial to JBL and Bose loudspeakers so when I decided to upgrade my speakers I installed JBLs in the KAT. I like the sound.

I went with a pair of Boston Acoustic FX-6's. They "Tweeter" did not have an exact replacement so my friend took a wizzer wheel and cut the outside edge off of the blown paper cone original Infinity speaker that was previously installed in the Cat. I then used that portion of the the old speaker and screwed it back into the door panel. Then all I had to do was predrill and screw the new Boston Acoustics into the outside ring of the old speaker.
I'm very pleased with the results!!! They sound and look great for a price tag of only $99.99. They are built very well. The cone is made out of polypropylene which is extremely resilient to the weather.

Have a good weekend everyone!
Brian
