Hi from the UK! I'm Scott, from Southwest England. Seriously considering going through the monumental task of getting a Prowler to the UK and was wondering if there was anyone else out there, this side of the pond, who could give me a bit of time on how easy/expensive it is to own one over here. A big hello to you all, and I won't tell you just how jealous of you I all am. Green is not the word! This message has been edited by dubster on 10-03-2006 at 10:01 AM |

The cost of enjurance and tax is different in EU States. I pay in Germany GBP 180.- State Tax and GBP 240.- Enjurance a year. Also, if you dont want to import by your self from the US, there are some aviable in the EU that already have European registration specs. Average price ( like my 2001) is 25000 to 27000 GB-Pounds. |

Hello Scott, I have been thru the experience of buying a Prowler then shipping it half way across the world to Australia. All the time and effort it took is definately worth it. If the Prowler is the car you want and you can afford to do it just do it you wont regret it. This message has been edited by the alchemist on 05-16-2011 at 12:39 PM |

Kees (from the Netherlands) just shipped his second Prowler. I'm sure he could help with information. He posts here regularly, but here is an email: Kees Engel If you check out the Owners Registry (from the purple column on the home page), you'll also find 5 owners from England that you can contact via email. Good Luck! ------------------ The Prowler makes you smile. Why? Because it's focused. It has a plot, a reason for being, a passion. It evokes the hot rod. It evokes the American Dream. This car is the human psyche. This message has been edited by CJ on 10-03-2006 at 04:16 PM |

Hi guys, thanks for the response. condor - yeh, insurance definitely differs radically country to country, hence me needing to speak to someone here in the UK about it really. Plus, I'd like to get an idea of parts and servicing etc. CJ - thanks, I may just contact Kess in the future. I have already emailed all 5 owners, unfortunately none of them chose to respond which was a shame. |

25000 to 27000 seems an absolutely crazy amount of money since that equates to like 51,52000 USD, and the cars can be obtained for half that amount !! ------------------------------- 25000GBP is €uro 37500, whats about $ 46000.- Shure, you can safe a lot, if you know a bit tricks about shipping/ importing car´s. If you buy a low mile prowler in the US, add USA moving cost, add cost of shipping, add state tax Europe (10% of the car value/bill of sale, add 17% of all cost, ( 10%tax plus, cost of shipping and all other cost, add 17% incl. car price) Here you have to take care of the Euro Conversion, that will be have some changes for 2007 too. You have to have the recall done before shipp one over. Put options in your Prowler, before you ship it: ( Blinker Relocaton set, Chrome Grill, Strobe sets, and, and... If you ship parts by UPS, its getting very expensive! --------------------------------- I can service my prowler in frankfurt at Chrysler, they have all infos about the car or I use the US Army DC System. I have/got many parts for the Kat, incl. all service parts, belts, relais, brake parts (Disc/CeramicPads), all-filters,oil,4 new tires, spark plugs, hood struts, mud flares, and.... cheap in the USA, in europe... Hi, UK_Prowler here, aka Mike from Bristol. Whilst I didn't import my car, can tell you that getting parts is not that difficult or expensive. I usually order the things I want direct & get them shipped over. I have an arrangement with an ex Chrysler mechanic who comes to my house to service / replace parts. I bought my car from a Dealer in Coventry for what I feel was a fair price, it is a 2001, silver, 7000 mls at the time, now has 12,000. I do know another Prowler owner in Bristol who went to the States to buy his car & shipped it back. No real problems apart from the usual lights, indicators & fog lamps. Don't think it cost that much to meet the UK requirements, & once signed off, you can just remove the "fixes". As for insurance, I have mine on limited mileage insurance & have max NCB, so, for a declared 3K mls a year it costs me £700, but I am also 50. Hope this helps, you can call me on 07808 824999 if you fancy a chat. Cheers Mike |

Hi, If you live in Bristol surely you have seen me crusin about??? I live in the North of Bristol & can be found crusin up & down the Ring Road from time to time. I also meet with other 'hot rod' owners during the summer, this year we met every Tuesday at the Golden Hart in Winterbourne. Not sure if we will change venues next year though. You are welcome to come & see my car anytime, just give me a call. Yes, my email has changed as I have changed jobs ... it is michael.ross@siemens.com Did you try to call the other day, I had 2 missed calls with 'number withheld'??? Anyway, drop me a line or a call & I will be happy to discuss anything about the car you like. Cheers |
