Is BORLA the best exhaust for the prowler? if so where and how much do they cost about?

There have been several RECENT posts about the failure of the Borla mufflers. Some came apart at the weld, some rattled on the inside of the muffler portion.
THE BEST depends on the ear of the beholder. Straight pipes, Jay's SSS muffler, removing the inside of the stock mufflers, old corvette sidepipe baffles, etc.
YOU need to listen to all of them to decide what you like.
Go to your next POA event and hear them in person.

I love my borla Exhaust system, and can tell you of at least a minimum of at least 8 to 10 people That have borla exhaust system's that also love them.

I can also tell you of at least a half dozen other people that have run Jays SSS system and had them crack (Do a search).

I personally have cut the end off my stock muffler off and COMPLETELY gutted it out (Not just drilled it out) and welded it back together sounded good, and I still put the Borla exhaust back on.

Do your self a favor and don't take every post on this site as the GOSPEL Truth, as far it being the ultimate truth, their are just too many opinions and you know what they say about opinions.

I have been at a lot get together's where people have had a variety of exhaust systems and by far borla's have still sounded the best over all and with the least amount of complaint's.

Do you own research and then decide. for the last 5 years I have changed my exhaust system out four different times, and still run Borla.

If your going to do long cruises stick with the stock exhaust, or the drone of the exhaust will drive you nuts after awhile, I'm used to running straight pipes on my Bikes so I don't have a problem with loud pipes

My Borla only lasted 1 1/2 years then rattled apart inside.
I've drilled the baffel plates and removed the fiberglass insulation from my stock muffler and really like the sound...It only cost me $35 for the tools to drill out.....I wish I would have done it originally, instead of wasting my money on the Borla..

Just my opinion...

Like several have already said exhaust tone is truly a personal preference. I have heard some that I prefer the sound over my Borla and I even gave some thought to changing. But most that I liked better were also louder and with the top up the Borla is plenty loud enough so I decided not to change. I have had my Borla installed for around 6 years and 33,000 miles. The only problem I have experienced is a broken tail pipe bracket.

I may be wrong but isn't the Mopar Performance Exhaust (Borla) that you purchase from the dealer different from the Borla exhaust purchased directly from Borla. I have the Mopar Performance Exhaust in the box and it has the Mopar logo stamped in the metal on the muffler.

Correct, there are two types of Borla and two diff. exhaust TIPS. One through Mopar and one from Borla directly.

I have the Borla Prowler exhausts on my Candy Cat and the Black Cat. I love the sound......much throatier than the stock, but not obnoxiously loud. Haven't had any problems with either one. I've been very happy with them...and I love the etched Prowler cat on them, too. My new CA Kid Cat has Borlas, but they aren't the Prowler Borlas. Sound very similar, however.

2002 Black California Kid Prowler - CAL KID

The Prowler makes you smile. Why? Because it's focused. It has a plot, a reason for being, a passion. It evokes the hot rod. It evokes the American Dream. This car is the human psyche.

I like the SSS sound, but I went with Mopar Borla because it is stainless steel from the headers all the way back. The SSS is just a muffler...you keep the OEM tail pipes (which I hated the rust on them). You can order the Mopar Borla Exhaust from Jeff Hunter at www.moparsupercenter.com for around $600 including S&H. Jeff's discount is great! Make sure you talk with Jeff and tell him your from POA and he sells it to you for 10% above cost!!!!!!!

The SSS (Sweet, Smooth & SASSY) was manufactured from 100% stainless components however as great as it was there will be no more. Hurricane Wilma took care of the manufacturing facility. There are close to 300 owners that can now consider these as collectibles.

I have the STOCK muffler with the DUSTY TIPS. I do like noise, but to me, the aftermarket mufflers were TOO loud for everyday driving or long trips.
With the cat pictured on the side, the DUSTY TIPS are cool. Plus the sound of even the stock muffler once you STOMP on it is very LOUD AND STRONG!!
