Hello folks. I don't know if many of you remember or not, but I was the guy that sent in all those photos of the V8 Plymouth Prowler from Lingenfelter back when I was working for them. I don't come on this board much and heck, I think it's been 4 years or better since I've been here last.. Ring any bells w/ anyone? Does anyone know what ever happened to that car? I have a few more photos stashed away of that build if anyone wants them. Anyway, it's nice to say hello again to everyone after all these years and it's quite impressive to see what you folks are doing with these cars these days! Best Regards, |

Thanks. I'm not sure how to post pictures on here, so hopefully someone can chime in with some help. I can't remember the chap's name that I sent the first photos to that posted them up in the "Garage" section, but I can do that again too if it's easier. Hi Phil, You sent the original pictures to me, which I have located in the Garage section off the POA Home Page. I would be more than happy to add the remaining photos for all to see. Please email them to Mike@ProwlerOnline.com . ------------------ |

Dusti~ Don't laugh, but I don't know how to retrieve the PM's here for some reason. I am computer literate, I'm just drawing a blank.. Sorry. Reply to my email instead~ rjp@teknology.net EDIT: I figured out the PM thing. Hi Mike! I remember you now. Give me a few minutes to sort through the photographs of what I have here, so I can make sure I don't send you dupes of the photos you've already received a while back. BTW- If my memeory serves, the LPE car ran 11.44 @ 121 MPH back in 2000.. Regards, This message has been edited by RJP on 08-18-2006 at 08:25 AM |

New pictures have been sent to Mike just now. There are more, but this is a start. I'm leaving the office now, so I don't have time to put captions to any of them tonight, but I will for you as time permits in the next few days~ mainly so you folks know what we were doing in each respective photo. As I was looking through these, I couldn't help but to stare a bit at some of them in remembrence and sadness where J.L. was in a couple of the photos- may God rest his soul. Good man that is missed by many and one of my mentors that pointed me in the HP direction that led me where I am today! Anyway, it was nice to look back at those again and I hope you folks enjoy them as much as I do. BTW- Here's the "Garage" link to where the photos are. http://www.prowleronline.com/misc/lpe_prowler/ Best Wishes, This message has been edited by RJP on 08-17-2006 at 07:19 PM |

Is this the black flamed car with round headlights that was owned by Dick Marriott of the hotel chain? |

Yes it is. I remember when that new car first arrived at the shop direct from Chrysler, very early on a very cold/snowy winter morning in November, it still had plastic on the seats and only had 4 miles on the clock. I got a chance to drive it around a bit to see what it was like before we promptly stripped it down to the bare frame and body tub. That seems like such a long time ago..

I've looked through all my picture discs here and those are indeed the last of the photos I have of that car. I'm leaving the office for lunch now, but I'll post text to each one later tonight when I'm doing other paperwork. phil |

quote: That's what I was thinking when I was trying to sort all of that mess out to make everything work properly. The challenge was to get the Chrysler body control module, ECM and the ETAX transmission controller to operate in tandem with the GM LS1 PCM. The GM and Chrysler controllers communicate in different "languages" somewhat, so I got to know the inner workings of the Mopar and GM electronics very well though the project. I was excited just to hear the car start for the first time, let alone go down the road!! Believe it or not, the car did actually start in the stage of build you see in that photo, which was the testing phase of the related circuits to see if it all worked. Persistance paid off I guess...

Here's a description of each photo as I remember it in the order Mike placed them in this thread. #1. A shot from the rear of the car- We were fitting the body to the newly upgraded chassis for the first time and we used blocks of wood to simulate the proper body height we were targeting. Yu can see the stock Prowler fuel tank and the C5 Corvette rear suspension in this photo. 2. A shot from the front of the car- Again, we were rolling the newly upgraded chassis under the body for the first time. You can see the C5 Corvette driveshaft tube, bell housing and modified rear suspension/chassis of the Prowler to accept the C5 Corvette driveline. 3. A shot of the car as the body is on the lift and the new chassis is being rolled under it. Cramming this much drivetrain under this little of body was like trying to stuff 10 lbs. of stuff into a 5 lb. bag... (Employee faces have been blocked out to protect their privacy) 4. A shop shot- We were preparing the finished C5 Corvette/Prowler chassis to roll under the Prowler body for the first time. You can see J.L.'s Pro Stock Truck in this picture, along with other cars's in the shop being built at that time. Of course, that's J.L. himself with his back to us overseeing the projet- May God rest his soul. 5. This is the left front of the car- Once again, another angle of the chassis being rolled under the body tub. You can see the C5 Corvette driveline clearly in this picture. 6. This is the picture of the stock, bare Prowler body on the lift ready to accept it's new V8 chassis! 7. This shot is from inside the car as I began the mock-up installation and circuit testing of the various electrical components of the Prowler. The tags you see are placed there to make it easier for me to identify the Chrysler circuit connectors easily at a glance. 8. This is the finished interior driveshaft tube tunnel that was custom fabricated for the C5 Corvette drivetrain. It was done in 6061-T6 aluminum and had a functioning shifter mechanism/parking brake lever from the C5 Corvette. 9. This is a shot of the multitude of wiring I had to sort through to make this car run..
