depends on the conditions and if you have any engine/performance modifications/gears etc. and slight differenc in somem years (97 has smaller engine)

Average 0-60 MPH for stock Prowler is about 5.9 - 6.1 seconds.

When I had a nitrous kit my G tech showed I did 0-60 in 4.3 once and several runs in the 4.5 -4.6 second range. I think one of Texas guys had a 4.1 time .

Marty,

I beg to differ. The '97 has the same size engine, and it's just about as fast.

No offense taken, however ............

I certainly didn't mean to sound like I was knockin' the 97's. I guess because the 97 engines were rated at 30 something less HP I assumed their accelleration times would be longer.

I wonder if anyone has posted about times at a track comparing a 97 to a 99 in a head's up race?

I raced buddy at the stampede and posted my times. I don't remember if I posted his or not, or if he posted them. Remember tho, they were made on a hot engine after driving from Austin to San Antonio, on a hot and humid day.

They may be the same size but, there are major differences.

The engine in the 1997 was the 3.5 liter V6 cast iron engine rated at 214 HP.

In 1999, they changed that to the high-output 3.5L V6 that had an aluminum block and 253 hp.

I always thought the 97's had a three cylinder Yugo engine rated at 21.4hp.

Ya learn something new every day.

One thing the 97's had different was dual throttle bodies.

In truth - having your AC on at a track on ahot day could get you dis qulaified form runngitn again even thrown out of the facility. The last thing the track and othe rcompeteitors want is to get on the track an drive through somebody elses puddle left from condensation dripping on the track. I have witnessed 2 incidents where the tarck made annoucements to turn off the AC and had shouting matches going on when soemone did not follow the rules. It did not involve me - thank goodness - I only do things like try to use my Ipod and try to keep my windows down!
