I had previously posted that I was doing a complete remake of the Prowler which resulted in the entire drive line and engine being sold. Thank you to all who were interested. Many asked me for an update as the project progressed, so here it is; I am having the project undertaken by a company in Canada. The company sponsors Dream Car Garage and Sports Car Revolution on the Speed Channel. I was up there last week for the first time since the project began 9 months ago. They are amazing artists and so mechanically apt its hard to comprehend. Their work makes it look as the car came of the assembly line like it is. To start with, they installed an entirely new running gear, front to back. This includes and brand new LS7 Corvette engine from the new Corvette Z06 rated at over 500 hp out of the box. We tried to use the new Hemi 6.1 liter from Chrysler but Chrysler could not make it ready for us this year so I substituted. Sorry. Next they put a highly modified state-of-the-art Porsche 6 speed manual trans axel in with all new running gear including 13 in rotors up front and 14s in the back. The car is lowered by 1.5 inches front to back with fully adjustable four corner suspension. We are using Wilwood 6 piston calipers up front along with 4 piston in back. The nose will be customized by removing the protruding chin. Despite the good looks of the chin as it is, I wanted it a bit different if you know what I mean. The back will be modified as well. We are installing a completely new interior through-out with Connolly leather on the dash and elsewhere, including new seats and stereo. I am shooting for completion by the Hot Rod Power Tour in early June. I will provide further updates as warranted. |

It will be interesting to see how it compares to the Chip Foose Prowler built for Dick Marriott. Also running a Chevy V8 |

This is the same company the did the "Dragon Side Panels" Peter Klute from LMC, both of these shows (Dream Car Garage and Sports Car Revolution on the Speed Channel)are produced by him... I heard he was working on putting a V-8 in a prowler... Don.. This message has been edited by Northern Cat on 01-31-2006 at 08:46 AM |

With that LS7 pumping out 505 SAE certified horse power if you ever hook up the tires I would be concerned about twisting up the frame! Can't wait to see photos! LS7 has excellent power density, or horse power per pound of engine. A perfect match for the Prowler! Good luck keeping a transaxle in one piece! Hope its from either a 928 or 959. |
