Thinking about buying a bra for the front of my car before making an upcoming 1500 mile trip. Has anybody ever had any paint damage, rubbing , or chapping problem with a bra? |

I bought my kat out of state & bought a bra cover. Flew there, put the cover on & drove it home. No problem with rubbing or scratching the paint. When traveling, I will use the bra cover. |

If you get the bra and it gets wet you might want to remove it and let it dry off of the car. My bra caused the clear coat to become a milky color. I know of others who have also experienced this problem. No more bra for me. Al |

I got a bra for protection while traveling and later got Kal to paint flames on it, so now it stays on most of the time. Since I have seen postings by Rich Ware and others about problems they have had with paint milking due to wet bras (boy that phrase is gon'na come back at me!), I always take the bra off when I get caught in rain and let it completely dry before putting it back on. |

On the dark color Kat's the Bra WILL cause condensation to form beneath the clear coat when left on in damp or rainy weather. This actually happens to Silver and lighter colors also but is very difficult to see. If the paint does "FOG" a heat lamp can be stationed above the area for about 4 + hours, 4 to 6 inches above surface, and wallah the fogging disappears. Have had this on Chrysler JXI, Dark Green Metallic, Dodge Intrepid R/T both red and black, and was able to clear it up, Chrysler actually has a TSB on this someplace. In fact the warning comes in the Bra box from the Chrysler supplier. Jim |

I have a brand new in the box Bra that has never even been unfolded....let me know if you are interested and I will get the rest of the info. This one covers the entire front of the car, up to the doors and also covers the front part of the hood. Its black. |

Is mopar making the bras anymore or has American Stitchco taken over the OEM bra manufacturing?? Just want to make sure the info I give Louis is correct. |

The Prowler bras were always made by American Stitcho and sold by Mopar. You can now buy them through the Prowler store with the logo embriodered in any color. Not just in silver. |

My son and I used dyamount dye to spray "old school" flames on the black bra that I puchased from POA. Cost was about $250. Result's priceless. I have no paint damage and have driven it in the rain many times. This message has been edited by Simonsez on 01-27-2006 at 05:24 PM |

I have had the Speed Lingerie Bra for the nose & hood since I bought my Kat in 2000. Never had problems with clouding until last summer when I hauled my Kat on an open trailer to the Wisconsin Dells Prowler Invasion. The trailer did not have a blast shield so I opted to put the nose bra on & for the 2nd time ever, the hood bra. During the 10-12 hour drive, I repeatedly ran through quite a few bands of really heavy rain & then into bright hot sun & then back again throughout the beginning of my journey. Needless to say, when I removed the bra I noticed the cloudiness in the silver paint on the hood where the bra was. I left the hood bra off for the remainder of the trip, but continued on with the nose covered since that area was totally fine. I guess the hood being flat trapped more water which just sat there. The nose just drains off. When I got home I removed the tribal flame decal I designed & placed on the hood a few years back & it was even more evident. The decal actually protected the paint. I tried hand waxing (with several professional grade products), I tried my Porter-Cable Dual-action orbital buffer... No results... I was getting instructions & recommendations from Classic Appreciation Auto Detail Center (Where CJ & Bob took Zack's Black Kat to be brought back to life). Still no results... When I attended the Woodward Dreamcruise last fall I went over to Classic Appreciation where Greg (ClassicAppreciation)tried hand polish & tried a High-Speed buffer...Still nothing...Decided to do a little light wet sanding & it worked great. He just skimmed the clear coat enough to get the cloudiness out. Needless to say the Hood bra has been put away for good. I know I was caught under extreme freak conditions, but just rather not take a chance. I will still use the nose bra for long trips & I recommend it. Check the weather reports & the roads you will travel. (heavy Truck traffic etc.) Extra note... If you get a Prowler trailer always use one on it!!!

I always use mine on the road for trips. Had a rock or ? hit the the hood bra than bounce over the kat on the way to Woodward last summer. Removed the bra expecting to find a dent, instead I could not find any damage at all. |
