Did anyone see the orange kat & trailer that sold on e-bay for under 35k. Sounds like a very good deal for someone. Sure would like to buy the trailer.

Darn, I forgot all about it. I was thinking of buying it just to get the trailer. I think the car alone would have brought $32k. OOOOOOH WEEEEEELLLLLL.

SCAM SCAM SCAM
I was the high bidder for a day or so. Then someone from Canada popped in and I had to out bid them.

For the last 30 minutes I was again the high bidder, but within the last SECOND a bid of $100 more came in and out bid me. This was the only bid this guy even made. The buyer had just registered for ebay last night, therefore no history and no information on where they are from - only says US.

Sounds more than a little fishy to me.

Well, could be, but more than likely what happened is you got burned by a last second e-bayer. I never bid till the last seconds of an auction and is how I bought my Prowler in fact. What you should have done, is wait till the end, and then instead of bidding $100 more. You go to your full amount you're willing to spend. If it's 5K more - bid 5K more. Usually people go say the next increment (a rookie move) - and if you go your max, they don't have time to resubmit and you get it for say the next or 2nd next increment. Remember a bid is your MAX, not your current amount. And ebay will only bump it to the next increment above what anyone else tries to bid.

Good advice for anyone reading this that is thinking about buying on e-bay.

Personally I have purchased two Prowlers on e-bay already.
Red 99' (first)
Black 00'(second, liked the 1st so much had to buy another - but sold it shortly thereafter as I didn't like the black.)

The fishy part is, the buyer not only came in at the last second but that he had also just registered.

Click this link to see an auction I won last night. http://offer.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=4602714193
These guys were bidding it up a dollar or two at a time for a couple of days. I waited until there were about 15 seconds remaining and bid $ 123.39 or something like that and only paid $ 91 for it.
This is exactly what RPowell is saying. You wait and do it at the last second and bump it up enough to ensure a win. The item I won was worth $ 170 retail.
If you lose an item by a buck or two, that is not necessarily what the winner actually bid.

Everyone has to register at some point. Maybe they didn't see anything worth registering for till this particular item.....

I'd be more inclined to think it fishy if they registered at the last minute, bid the highest price, saw what your highest possible bid was, then retracted theirs and then rebid a $1 lower then your highest bid.

Ed is 100% correct. Some people don't know how to properly use Ebay. Obviously from his link, Jobobnibuy WANTED the item very bad, but he waited till someone beat him by a $1, then he would bid them by a $1. As Ed stated, that guy probably would have paid much more than the final price if he knew better how to use Ebay. Now - McRealty, if you want, watch the feedback from the new buyer and the seller on this item to find out if its legit or not. You can find a lot about someone by researching their buying habits (by looking at feedback - what items they purchased)

Alley the cat, they are all pretty old but all 5 came after I left negative feedback. They retaliated and left me negative. I filed a complaint for 3 of the auctions as frauds and collected on 2, I think. I don't remember for sure. One guy did not send a 50 cent baseball card for over a month. I kept bugging him and he told me these things sometimes take a little time. When I finally got it I left him a negative and he left me one in return. Another guy never sent anything. Another one claimed her aunt was dying of cancer and it was a grab bag type of thing with some expensive stuff in it. Everyone got junk and she got nailed and removed from eBay. I don't remember the others. I think they are all over 5 years old. You can go back and look at every one. Click on a negative in red, see what they said, see my response and then click on their (number) in parenthesis to see if it is still listed. They might all be gone from eBay by now.

Ya learn the hard way. I sold a commercial deli slicer to a guy in California. He left positive feedback "item as described" then six months later when he went to sell it and the buyer had a problem he wanted me to honor it. SO of course then he left a nasty reply to his feedback.

I now never leave feedback first when buying. If the seller doesn't leave any then neither do I. I also don't think one should be able to add comments 6-8 months down the road.

If I'm selling I will leave feedback as soon as I have solid payment and only to that end as in "received payment promptly"

The slicer guy also threatened to get on a plane and come to Maryland to settle his dispute over a brand new $600 slicer.

Maybe we should require a note from their doctor first. lol

For those interested in winning ebay auctions more easily, check out www.autosnipe.com, it is a program that lets you enter a bid then it times itslef with the eBay clocks so that you get your bid in at the last 1 or 2 tenths of a second to win a bid and no one else can bid under you.. Ive used it a few times and it works. it costs pennies to use it.
good luck.

The odd part is that I hit two of them within a very short period of time. I have not had a bad deal in quite awhile. (Knock on wood.)
