It's my understanding there are detailed instructions w/pictures for the removal and repair of the window regulator. I've searched and couldn't find. Help.

This was written by a Prowler owner.

I created the Geocities account so I could post the pictures.. I have tried twice to post them here on the board but it just times out. I don't think the board software likes the idea of me posting a bunch of pictures. The Geocities account is saying we have used too much bandwidth.. argh..
I can't post the pictures in this thread but they are sitting on this server already..
Here is what is posted on that website.. but you will have to click on the urls to see the pictures.
----------------------------------------------------
I said I would post pictures if I tried to fix my problem with the window. I'm posting this for future reference so if someone tries to fix it themself they will know what they are getting into.
Picture #1 - The door. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg1-itr.jpg
Picture #2 - Remove the bezel around the door handle. It slides toward the back of the door. It doesn't pop off. It slides off. Be careful not to break it. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg2-itr.jpg
Picture #3 - Remove screw in the center of the plastic handle that you close the door with. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg3-itr.jpg
Picture #4 - Remove screw at the top of the door nearest the dash. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg4-itr.jpg
Picture #5 - Remove screw at the bottom of the door nearest the dash. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg5-itr.jpg
Picture #6 - Pull the panel off starting at the front of the door and work your way back. There are I believe three plastic snap that still hold the panel on. For the drivers side door you will need to disconnect the controls for the power mirrors. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg6-itr.jpg
Picture #7 - The only thing still connecting the door panel to the door is the controls for the power windows and locks. Spin the door panel upside down and you will see how to snap the controls out of the door panel. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg7-itr.jpg
Picture #8 - This is a picture of the controls snapped out of the door panel. Pull the controls back through the hole to completely remove the panel from the door. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg8-itr.jpg
Picture #9 - Door panel has been removed. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg10-itr.jpg
Picture #10 - Remove the metal backet in the center of the door and begin to peal the plastic back. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg11-itr.jpg
Picture #11 - See that white plastic pipe? That is probably the piece that is broken. That is what your about to pull out of the door. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg12-itr.jpg
Picture #12 - Remove the speaker and the black plastic seal and this is what it should look like. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg13-itr.jpg
Picture #13 - I didn't get a picture of me removing the 3 screws that hold the window on the tracks. You will see them. There is one at the front of the window and two at the back of the window. The window will slide out the top of the door. I didn't take pictures of this because I was being careful not to break the window. This next picture shows the window out of the car and I've taken the nuts off the brackets that hold the entire window mechanism. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg14-itr.jpg
Picture #14 - Remove the nuts at the back of the door. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg15-itr.jpg
Picture #15 - Ok the assembly is now disconnected from the door. Pull the assembly out the big whole in the dash side of the door. Be really careful not to scratch your dash or the door jam. Also be careful not to get grease on the carpet. It would be a good idea to have a hand towel around cause you will probably get some grease on your hands. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg16-itr.jpg
Picture #16 - Oops.. Don't forget to disconnect the power from the window motor. It is clipped onto the inside of the door and is out of sight. Give the plastic clip a pull and disconnect the wiring to the motor. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg17-itr.jpg
Picture #17 - Everything is disconnected its time to pull it all out of the door. You may have to wiggle it around some to get the back rails out of the front of the door. It took me a couple of minutes to get it out. Don't rush it will fit. You can see the broken section in the middle of this picture. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg18-itr.jpg
Picture #18 - Ok the previous picture showed the plastic tubing pulled apart. This is that same tubing pushed back together. You can see the fracture clearly. This is probably your window problem. This little cracked tube is the part that is always on back order. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/image_uploads/WWW/winreg19-itr.jpg
Ok thats the last of the pictures I took. I did a quick fix on this plastic tubing with duct tape. I will go back in at a later date and either replace this with a new piece or do a more permenant fix. Some long term solutions I have heard people using is fiberglass tape and epoxy, and heat wrap. I'm sure both of those will last a heck of a lot longer than duct tape but thats what I had handy. At some later date I will post an update on how long the duct tape lasted. haha..
I did my quick fix on the drivers side window, replaced the drivers side door speaker, and then replaced the passengers side door speaker. The entire thing took about and hour and a half start to finish and I was taking pictures. I'm not a mechanical person. If I could do this anyone could.

No, I did not write this.

I said it was written by a Prowler owner. I just copied it, and posted it here. The credit goes to the person who wrote it.
