I had the Candy Cat out a couple of days ago, a cool day, but blue sky and sunshine. Was looking for somewhere to get some pictures and happened to be nearby Meadowbrook Hall in Auburn Hills. Asked for permission to drive the cat onto the grounds of this beautiful estate to take some pics and they happily granted it. Was also thinking that this might be a great place to take those who will be attending Dream Cruise this year. It's nowhere as large as the Biltmore, but just as beautiful. It's an awesome home (now museum) and beautiful grounds. Here's some history on the home and some pics of the Candy Cat.

Meadowbrook Hall

Meadow Brook Hall is the fourth largest historic house museum in the United States and is especially renowned for its superb craftsmanship, architectural detailing and grand scale. Built between 1926 and 1929 as the residence of Matilda Dodge Wilson (widow of auto pioneer John Dodge) and her second husband, lumber broker Alfred G. Wilson, the 110-room, 88,000-square-foot, Tudor-revival style mansion is complete with vast collections of original art and furnishings.

In 1957, the Wilsons left their residence and its collections along with the estate’s 1,500 acres and $2 million to found what has become Oakland University.

Listed on both the national and state registers of historical places, Meadow Brook Hall strives to preserve and interpret its architecture, landscape, and fine and decorative art so visitors may be entertained, educated and inspired by history.
