Attended a Show and Shine today put on to raise money for the "Make a Wish Foundation". Over 600 cars in attendance. Well...I just pulled up to the admission table. My cat was at a complete stop. When...you guessed it...*CRASH*!!! The guy behind me in a White 65 Chevy Impala rearended me!!! His bumper was higher than the Prowlers so he managed to put a crease in the rear decklid on the drivers side. It's about 5" wide by maybe 3/4 to 1" deep. It also bent the small piece that covers the seam. I don't even know what that little piece is called. I hope they don't have to replace the entire decklid. I also don't want them just filling it with plastic...shooting it...and calling it a day! I know for a fact I invented NEW four letter words while I was talking to that guy. I'd post pics but I didn't have my digital with me...just my wife's SLR. Well...off tomorrow to check out a couple of recommended body shops in the area. I sincerely hope that none of you ever have to go though this. The way I look at it...it could have been worse. It's just a car...I have been blessed in so many ways in my life. That's all that really matters!!! Have a great night everyone!!! Brian |

how did the guy react ... assuming he too had a 'show' car ... very unfortunate for you both ... but probably not a nick on that older classic??! Good luck with the body shops! |

A very sad story Brian....you handled it very well.. a hit by a Chevy ! insult to injury ..... everyday i live in fear of someone hurting my baby... fear of what i might do... a couple weeks a go a guy in a Chevy doored my car in a parking lot ... and i was in the car !! ... his door hit the tire so nothing was damaged but it was the principal of the thing ... it could have been the paint !!.... , anyways , I peeled a couple of strips of the idiot and he couldn't get out of there fast enough .. hit him with at least 3 f-bombs and called his mother names.. felt good, practice for the real event, I'm ready now... I know its only a car.. but its MY car ! |

quote: Thanks Gene!!! Does anybody know the part name of that seam cover/clip I'm referring too? There is two on the rear end of all cats that I believe are there just to cover where the two seams meet on the trim piece located just below the decklid. They are are approximately 2" wide by maybe 4" long. Thanks again everyone!!! Brian |

Sorry about you trunk deck, but from my door being hit you would be better off to replace the deck lid as the material streaches and cant be put back into proper condition they fixed my door and it looks ok but just a little pressure makes it push in and make a bong noise as it pops back out, the little part you talking about is not metal it is a flexable plastic of some sort and can be put back into shape with a heat gun and is held on with two sided tape, anyone that has installed a rear pan can show you how to do it. Sure hope the guy has a good insurance co. good luck block-buster ------------------ |

Sorry to hear about the crash. Glad no one was hurt! Don't you love the way people do not pay attention to the world around them! I hope that the Chevy driver pays for the damage! Here in Mi., we have the famous 'no fault' plan. If some one smacks you, you are on your own! |

Sorry to hear about your accident Brian. I hope you find a good shop up there to do the work. You have to have someone put your kat back to pristeen condition. I was rear ended a week ago. Thank god I was driving my Yukon XL Denali and he was driving a Mitsubishi. He bent my trailer plug and scratched the paint and plastic on the bumper. His car was demolished. I had my 5 year old son with me. We just felt a little bump and he said "what was that". You can't tell a 5 year old that some a$$hole just rear ended us. The guy had dealer plates on the car and no drivers licence with him. I was in the exact same place the day before with the Prowler. What luck. Good luck Brian. Brain, Sorry to hear that man. But I would insist on new sheet metal / new lid. If it goes through insurance(which it probably will) there will be a carfax report on it showing the wreck. If you ever sell you want to prove it was fixed correctly. JMO |

Boy that sux! Being hit by an inattentive driver is one thing, but at a car show, you would think people would take extra care......good luck with the repair. Last car show I was at a local firehouse, and as the show broke up, all these numnutz started cutting through the parking lot to get to the exit....here I am crawling through the lanes, and this idiot comes barreling right out of the parking spots as he cut across the parking lanes, just missing my front bumper.....So I had to watch 360 degrees all around as the parking lot became a $#@! zoo/ demolition derby. |

At all car shows we take our time and try to be the last ones to start our cars. They sure try to be the first ones out. |

Wow Brian Bummer! I'm sure that if you get a quality body shop to do the repairs no one will ever see it was dinged. You have a cooler head than I do... I noticed MeanGene asked if he could help. Ya know he's got a complete disassembled Prowler at his house and he's come up with some really creative ways to use make planters out of them. He just does it to torment his wife and neighbors. |
