 I went to a local Cruise-In last night at a VFW Hall. This particular cruise-in is hosted by a local classic car club. They have oldies music, cheap beer and cheap food. I had been there five or six times before, with either the Prowler or my bike.Last night, I was asked to park along the road with the other newer cars, and not with the classics. This didn't happen the last few times I was there. Needless to say, I was a bit miffed. The guy told me, the club was under pressure from some of the members to not allow late model cars to park among them. Then he said, he would rather lose one car than a whole bunch. My wife and I decided to just leave. Oh well, it's their club. There are other cruise-ins around, but I'll miss the cheap beer. |

We would have daily drivers park outside the cruise area to allow for the special interest cars. We did allow people with NEW cars to be included if they were cars of interest (mine was there from the 1st Friday I had it) It sounds like they don't have enough parking and are having to turn the Classics away or trying to keep the kids out with the rice burners and thumper stereo's and the Prowler just so happens to be included I would go down and talk to them again and ask if they could make an exception for the Prowler. It is an orphan, special interest car and should be looked at the same as a Studebaker (they get no RESPECT) |

The Prowler is way to cool to have to beg for permission to be there. In the past, my car has drawn a lot of attention from the crowd, and I gave away a lot of the little prowlers to the kids. I think they just didn't like the fact that my car was stealing the show from their cars. Parking space was not the issue. They had plenty of room last night, and on the other nights I was there with the Kat. |

I can understand your frustration, but if they are excluding all newer cars I think you have to respect their rules. The Prowler is NOT a classic hot rod - it is a TRIBUTE to hot rodding but was mass produced (albeit in small numbers) by a major manufacturer. I love my Prowler but understand other people are passionate about their types of cars. Let them have their show if that is what they want. You can attend and appreciate their vehicles (and drink thier cheap beer!)and display your's where Prowlers are welcome. |

I have read in many articles that the Prowler is a classic and should be held as such,Yes it maybe new but that's for people that want to drive it and not work on it.As far as cheap beer come to the Dell's and we'll fix that. ------------------ |

Kraut, We will talk when you come to Port Huron Friday night. There is just enough (not a lot, but still enough) of the above issue out there that gets under the skin. I agree with the above comment that perhaps it is a space issue. I would truly hope this is the case. If it's not, pick your metaphor. In the spirit of the Prowler, Carol & I don't go where we aren't wanted. We've produced (and been part of) enough car shows/cruises to recognize all down sides. We don't have to "cram our car down everyone's throats". Answering the constant flow of questions is an enjoyable full-time job. Owning a Prowler is one of Life's true blessings, and (unfortunatly), very few can ever know. Not only was it built as a tribute, but (come on) it was "tongue in cheek" jab at manufacturing that was never designed to make money, just like building a hot-rod in real life. If you go back to the inception of hot rods (street rods in today's vernacular), they were built by outcasts. Both the car & the driver were outcasts. Tom Gale and Company may have succeeded beyond thier wildest expectations (philosofically, which is all a "tribute" is). Nothing has changed ! I drive an outcast, therefore, I am one. Sadly, other special interest car owner's don't understand. "Prowler, either you get it, or you don't!" Car owners take their vehicles to shows to attract the spectators. Prowler owner's merely have to drive their cars & spectators will flag them down. To own & drive one is a blessing. I can live with that. Life's too short............... I have had a similar experience with a local car show. I have been going for years and after I got the Prowler I started taking it up there. All of a sudden they decided the only cars they would allow on the lot had to be 25 years or older. I didn't make too big of a deal, as long as they made sure to enforce the rule to everyone. I saw a Shelby Cobra on the lot and asked why he was allowed to be there since his was a 2001 replica. I told them the Prowler is a replica (kind of) of an old hot rod. They didn't have an answer. I know its not exactly the same, but at least it made them think a little bit  |

I have to admit that it kind of upset me at first. But after thinking about it for a while, I can understand where they are coming from. They have their own club with rules that accommodate their types of cars. They don't want to give up space to cars that don't fit the rules, and take away from what they are selling. I'm no longer upset, as there are plenty of other venues available. It's their loss, not mine. |

Ed, I totally agree!!! I also feel that it's not even worth the time to go back to the VFW. There are so many other cool cruise nights out there. Heck...Kraut...you make it to Carlisle next year and I'll buy you a beer. The good stuff too!!! Brian |

On July 3rd a huge (350 cars plus) classic car show was held in downtown Evansville. I took my Prowler, Prowler Junior (& grandson), Tek-Nek battery Prowler (& grand daughter) and displayed. They had just one award "PEOPLE'S CHOICE". I won. Believe me we had a crowd around us all night long. |

We have a few cruise-in places here and there is one that ad reads streerods and classics and must be 25 years old or older.If parking premits they will accept newer cars.I think all should let car owners know in advance like this.We also have others that accept all but they have fewer cars. |

I WOULD HAVE LEFT ALSO, LAST WEDNESDAY 3 OF US KAT OWNERS WENT TO A CRUISE NIGHT IN ELMHURST, ILLINOIS AND THEY LET US PARK WITH THE CARS FROM THE 70'S, NEEDLESS TO SAY I THINK THE PROWLER LOOKS BETTER THEN MOST OF THESE CARS JUST MY OPINION, I'VE HAD A 55 AND 57 CHEVY AND THEY WERE BOTH JUNK AND RODE LIKE TRUCKS. |

...a friend of mine and I put on a Cruise Inn the first Saturady of October every year....it attracts 150-200 cars ....we welcome anyone and have had as many as 9 Prowlers there....come on down to Indiana this year  |

Have had same thing happen to us and we reminded them that the Prowler is no longer in production there fore a collector car /special intrest car.This usally gets us in the cruise.Also gets the trophy. |

Ed,Friday nights cruise is opened to any vehicle from 1973-1987 and 1988 and newer for vehicles that have been modified.Saturday is for 1972 and older or exotic approved first.All info.is avail.in a mag.called Mike kelly'sCruise News.www.cruisenewsonline.com other email info.www.old-town.com phone# (407)396-4888 Lots of cars each Fri.-Sat.Hope this helps |

Kraut......buy a subscription to CruisNews and it will give you information about all the cruise-ins and car shows that you want to attend. We've been subscribing for years, and its great! |

CJ,I agree with you about Cruise News and all the good info.I pick up a free one each month at local cruise ins.But there are two cruise news mag.the one I sent info. on Mike Kelly's Cruise News cover much more on the Old Town cruise and info around the Orlando area.Both are great. |
