I'm looking for my first Prowler and need some input please. I have found in my area a 99 with 75k =/- mi in fair cond, not pampered looking (needs new top, some interior plastic replaced, pass side front bumper looks pushed back approx. an inch and needs a complete detailing) asking $24,900. My budget is $30k max (play toy account), every other one for sale in the area is $34k and up. I was hoping to find a loved one in my price range with less miles, am I out to lunch? |

It seems the price of used Prowlers with low miles has crept up recently - at least i some parts of the country. I think that with patience you will find one for $30K with a whole lot less miles than 75,000 and in better shape. |

I'd pass on that one. I bought my black '99 with 580 miles (yes 580) for $27,500 from the original owner and it was nearly a 100% perfect, "never been wet" car. Good luck. The hunt is just part of the fun. Kevin ------------------ |

That car with 75,000 miles, and the condition it is in, is a low $20K at best. You should be able to get a very nice car with low mileage for under $28K. Keep checking eBay. There have been some really nice ones with very low mileage sell for decently low prices. ------------------ |

I would pass at that price. I picked up a pristine 99 last year with 2,500 miles for 30K. Cost 700.00 to ship it from Arizona to Michigan. Many nice Prowlers are availiable...keep looking! |

Marty is correct, prices are up about $2k -3K more right now. I purchased mine last fall for $29.5 for a 99 with 4000 miles. I would sit tight, and for $30k you should be able to find a very nice, low miles kat. chris |

Sounds a bit steep to me. I got my 2000 silver with 32k miles for $27,000.00 on eBay and it is in great condition and runs perfect. That was in Jan. of this year, it was located in FL (I'm in VA) two one way airline tickets to Tampa cost $225.00 and my son and I drove it back with a one night stay in Daytona Beach for about $300.00 total. So that would still put it under $28k for a 2000! I have purchased 3 cars off eBay and all 3 have been excellent deals. Watch the auctions and when the reserves are not met give them a call and find out how much they want for a cash sale. If you purchase on eBay all your out if the car turns out not as described is an airline ticket. Both cars pictured are eBay puchases. |

Kruisin, Where is this 99 ?? I'm not looking to purchase, I have a 2001, but curious where in the NH area a 99 with 75K miles is. Pass on it... As everyone else states, buy the right one for you with low miles... I also agree with getting a 2000 or newer. There are many members that would be willing to go check out a car for you. I purchased a trailer from Louisiana recently, and without hesitation many offered to participate in what was dubbed "trailer tag". Wait it out, you'll find a nice one with less than 75K for 30 or less. Joe |

Hey Kruisin Kat- I agree; Everyone here is giving you good advice. I also would pass on that one 75,000 with a rough interior; This guy did not take care of his Kat. Sounds like she's on her 8th life!!! The best advice I could give is to hold out and wait to find the right one. Easily said, I know when you have the FEVER for such a HOT ride. I would check Ebay but don't overlook www.autotrader.com they always have 100-150 Kats every day. Don't forget to check under Chrysler and Plymouth Prowler as they do not merge the two. I recently checked there are three that may interest you 99' Black 70,000 ask. $17,500 (fender damage) 99' Black 10,000 ask. $29,000 You have to keep looking; If you have any questions; POA

I would pass on that one. The advice to buy only a 2000 or newer is not all that great of advice. I have a 99 Red with 50,000 miles and I am not trying to sell it. I have had very few problems with the car. I also own a 2002 Candy and only have about 3000 miles on it. I do not see that great of a difference. Thereare differences but nothing substantial. There is nothing that would prevent me from buying another 99 except lack of money and lack of garage space. If you prefer a certain color, you may have to buy a certain year or two to get what you want. The BIG point no one mentioned is that prices are a little higher now because it is JUNE, the best time to sell a convertible and the worst time to buy one. Next Dec. and Jan. the prices will take another dip. Hold off and get what you want. If the interior is rough, do you think he babied the engine and tranny? |

Thanks for the input, I'm so glad to have found this site. I really "want" one now, but I'm going to take my time and find a nice one in my price range. So far purple and blue are my favorites, but open to others. |

I'd be most worried about the pushed in bumper...did it hit something or did someone hit it? There seems to be a fair amount of cats available with low miles and reasonable prices. Good luck with your search. ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

I purchased a Inca Gold out of Ft Worth 12,800 miles for 31,000 on Ebay. It took me a year to find the one that I wanted and the price that I was willing to pay. The only thing wrong with the car was the chin was scraped. SO you can do it too. Just be patient It will come. GoldRush |

One Very important thing to remember Is that Junk will always be JUNK no mater what you do to it!!!!!. Also that the difference between a 5 thousand dollar Car, and 10 thousand dollar car, is 20 thousand because by the time you get done fixing a $5K car you spent $20K dollars and you still got JUNK!!!!. So bide your time and wait for a Good Car there out there. Toys |
