Yesterday I had plans to attend a local car show at a church near my home. The show started at 1 PM, I made sure I was early. This was a small church with only about 75 parking spaces. My nephew and I arrived at noon to find half the parking lot full of cars. ( glad I got there when I did!) Top down, Shades on, Just down shifted to first (no mufflers on my kat so it makes that radical cam, burping, throaty, yes I'm driving a race car noise.)I'm now poised to turn in and to my surprise...the "driveway" (or should I say Retaining wall or levy or....) well you get the picture. So I parked on the street out side the show.
One of the organizers came over to me and said If I entered my car I would surely win a trophy I my class. The only "new" car at the show was a Porsche boxter. ( we all know a boxter could win a trophy in a show with nothing but boxters.)
Well I just couldn't get my Kat in the lot. No big Deal. So my nephew and I are checking out some cool cars (and trust me many folks went to check out the prowler) when Another Kat shows up. It's a black with a nice flame job and no bumpers. Hey Look!... It's Bill! Bill slows down, looks at the "driveway" then speeds off. SeeYa Bill.
By now it is Africa hot outside. So my nephew and I decide to see if we can run down Bill. Nope, can find him. So the two of us go cruzen down the street, waving at the girls, peeling out of sight, spenden all my money on a Saturday night. ( I think I have written enough ) Bye now.

Personally I would rather cruise around town than to sit in a hot parking lot. Whenever I am in a show and I win a trophy I always give it back and tell them to use it in another show or give it to someone else. I just enjoy my car and sharing it with others.

I agre with the cruising being more fun. The nest part of Power Tour was getting from city to city. If we're gonna sit - the hotel parking lot workds just fine.

I HATE TROPHIES! They always create some hurt or bad feelings and what the hell do you do with them except collect dust for a short time then throw them in a closet or haul them to the GoodWill or trash dump?
Years (20+) ago I started a yearly car show to help raise some cash for the local small town fire department. The day before the show the fire department made homemade apple butter and put it up in jars. I gave the apple butter out as first, second, third and on down awards. Every car went home with at least a quart of homemade apple butter. Every year after that I had more and more entries, they said that the awards at our show were the only ones they could really enjoy. The show was in the cool and dry fall season, on grass in a shady area with lots of good low priced real food prepared by the ladies aux. A real meal not a boiled hot dog for $2.50!
Now you pay $10.00 & up to sit in a hot as hell parking lot and listen to some bad 50's-60's rock & roll music that they think is appropriate for the car collector hot rod crowd, the whole thing has turned into a big BORING JOKE!
I agree "Drive it-Don't park it"!
