Greetings everyone! I'm a first time poster here. I own a 2000 silver Prowler and have had it about 8 months. I love it. It has 3,800 miles. I'll post a picture in the next day or so. I had two questions for the group. I suspect others have had the same issues. Wheel covers: the chrome/plastic lug nut covers are really cheap (surprise). I had one just fall off on its own while I was driving the other day. I saw it happene and was able to retrieve it. 2 of the tabs had broken, so I just put it back on with silicone. I was looking at a parts website and it appears the replacement ones have a wire retainer. Is this right? Do these work better than the OEM ones? Door speakers: my door speakers were torn or blown when I bought the car. Should I replace these with OEM speakers, or can anyone suggest a good aftermarket speaker that will fit in the space we have in the door? Thanks and I look forward to posting here in the future |

The center caps are supposed to have a wire retainer. That is what keeps the five tabs in place. The newer ones had thinner wires that had more flex with the theory being if it flexed more it might not bread as easily. That is a big problem with everyone. Use one half of a spring loaded clothes pin to remove the caps and when you are puttingg them back on the car, lubricate the tabs with some dishwashing soap. I have not replaced speakers yet but someone will answer you. You can do a search by simply typing in "speakers" and get lot of hits. The search is on the upper right side. Welcome to the site, you found the right place. Congrats on the car and Keep it stock, lol ------------------ |

My Prowler Tech broke two of my center caps...they replaced those two and I bought 6 more (just in case.) I'd grab a couple while they are still in stock unless you plan to replace the wheel or go with some of those spiffy aftermarket spinners. Good Luck! ------------------ |

Congratulations Miamicane on your first post AND of course your 'silver bullet' ! Regarding your speakers, we've just recently upgraded the door speakers with JBL speakers which are GREAT ! You may want to contact YELLER CAT (Jay Harris) at this phone number at Gold Coast Autotronics - he even wired those speakers so you can 'unplug' the old ones and 'plug in' these ones without cutting or splicing etc. 800-669-3540 Regarding your center caps, Georgia Prowler mentioned the aftermarket 'knock off' spinners - here's what they look like : The guy that makes them is JIMMY DALE but he only makes 5 sets at a time - unfortunately I don't have his email or phone number but when you use the 'search' option as Mr. Monahan suggested enter "Spinners" and you should be able to retrieve some older threads ! Congrats again and happy Prowlin' !! DUSTI ------------------ |

The door speakers List for $ 148 from Chrysler. I just helped afellow POA Member repair his speakers. They all seem to tear around the outer edge. The cone of the speaker is still good though. If you are into Music by all means Call Jay Harris and he will hook you up with great speakers. If you want to repair them take off the door panels and take out the speaker. Take off the cover over the speaker and clean off all the ripped or torn paper. Then take Black Silicone and go around the Plastic cone making sure it attaches to the metal housing. When the silicone stars to get tacky put the cover to the speaker back on. Reinstall after 24 hours. It will work like new. Saves some bucs. MIke PS Make sure you ask Jay about the Florida Kat Pack! |
