Hey to all. I'm new to the form and I picked up a 2001 silver cat and was thinking about putting on some front bumpers. I still can't figure if I want them on or not. What are your thoughts? I found some used ones but price seems too high. What is a reasonable price for them and where is a good place to look for them? |

I think I sold my set for $400 or around there. Early ones were gray, later were black. They can be painted the color of your car which looks good. I prefer the look without. Do you have something filling the holes where your bumpers used to come out of? Welcome. |

Welcoem to POA Like butchee, I like the look of no front bumpers. You seee a lot of street rods withourt front bumpers. You can check the classified ads on this site - people will advertise bumpers for sale periodically. Have you thought about coming to the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour? It will stop in Birmingham on Wednesday June 8th. You will see a dozen of so Prowlers - some with, some without bumpers. If you are interested in joining us, let me know. |

Welcome, A lot of us took the front and back bumpers off. So they may want to sell them, I myself will always keep mine to put the kat back to stock. Wish you luck. ------------------ More 'Pumpkin' photos . . . . . More cars and other stuff New pictures in Personal Scrapbook (02/23/03) "The Prowler is not a car to go from Point A to Point B. Welcome. I prefer the no front bumper look myself, but was a little concerned about the front tag placement for two tag states and asked if anyone had a spare set in case I wanted to put them back on. I got several reply's from other members on this site and their prices were very reasonable compared to Chrysler dealers and eBay.I have decided to go without bumpers, I really love that alien look from straight on front. |

I painted my bumpers to match my car...I seem to be in the minority, but I like them. My husband removed the bumpers from his car. Check out the scrapbooks and look at what others have done, it may spark some ideas. Good Luck |

Phlee: Welcome and congrats on the silver! Bumpers on or off has been a long standing debate of members of this forum. I left mine on for the first year I had my Kat and then took them off. It's really a matter of personal taste and if you think they add protection in a front end collision. I took mine off for the appearance. My advice is to drive it for a while like it is and do as Marty suggests and meet the crowd on the Power Tour where you can in person see Prowlers with bumpers off, bumpers on and paited bumpers. Power Tour is just 3 weeks away. Again welcome! |

The bumpers are definitely functional, especially for crashes. I like the bumpers and would not remove them from either of my cats. I did, however, paint a set of bumpers Candy Red to match the cat and I do like that look! Welcome to the forum! ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

To those who asked, I bought the cat with the bumpers off and got it in Georgia from a jeep dealership of all places. I would be interested in the gatherings and rides. My wife and I enjoy getting out and meet people. Marty I would like to see the tour. Just let me know the particulars. Tracy H. let me know and how much. I might be interested. Thanks again to all. Welcome to the POA. You are off to a great start. FIRST by buying a Prowler. SECOND by posting and let people know who you are and where you are. I love my car and have for several years now. The POA is a great place to chat with total strangers who you have never met but are long time best friends. Be active and go on some Prowler events. Good luck, have fun, enjoy your ride. |

Welcome! I as well definitely like the look of the bumpers off. I also think bumpers off on a lot of cars would look better. However, I did not realize that bumpers had become an option. Vehicle manufacturers go through a lot of expense because they have to provide front and rear bumpers. I did not know that it was okay to take your bumpers off when you drove the car home.????? For small impacts such as parking lots, the bumpers work fine and could prevent huge expensive damage, in a higher speed crash although they are very small they still would absorb energy and possibly deflect the car, prior to impact on the frame. I know some Prowler owners have been involved in accidents without bumpers and have not had a problem with insurance....this is not a chance I am willing to take. JMO |

Welcome to the Poa. best site going ! I am glad to see another Bama Kat on the loose. All of us Alabama Kat owners should meet up sometime and cookout& cruise. On the Bumpers you should watch E-bay they are listed from time to time , I have seen each side go for around $100.00 ea. I paid $396.00 for a brand new set on Ebay to keep as extras. |
