has anyone here ever rented a prowler? im sure most people on here just bought one but im still waiting a few more years to take the plunge and get one of my own

anyways, the closest i can get to a prowler in the meantime is renting, and i plan to do so when i head to vegas in Nov...

i guess my question is, is this a good idea?? it appears that these rental places dont offer insurance coverage and that scares me!!

any insight on this is appreciated

Yes,

I have twice. Once in 98 and once in 2000. It was from one of those exotic rental car places and was about $300 per day with 50 miles allowed per day. Above that was .25 cents a mile. We only needed to prove we had auto insurance. Go ahead and rent one, once you do, you will want one.

$300.00 A DAY! I'd be more that happy to rent you mine for that and I'm just up the road from you. I won't even charge you for the extra mileage! What a deal, lets see out to Vegas and back should take about 10 days, that's only $3,000.00!
There is one for sale here in Winchester (1997), they would let you test drive it, that will be all it will take to convince you that it is the car to own.

when I was in vegas last spring I did not see any Prowlers for rent but saw several vipers. check the internet for exotic car rentals, there are several on the strip or closeby.

have fun

Rented a red Kat in Vegas (~$300 unlimited miles I think for 8 hours. I didn't want responsibility for it overnight.) I loved it and my wife HATED it. Still ended up getting one a couple of years later.
I checked with my insurance agent and they said I was covered.

I remember pulling out of the rental agency on the Strip and a guy saying to his kids "We'll come back. He got the coolest car on the lot!"

Rent one then BUY one!

I rented out in Vegas in April of '99. Was supposed to have a '97 purple (fav color and the color I now own), and although "confirmed" got there to see it pulling off the lot. They put me in a '99 Yellow -- way cool to me at the time....and I had it for about 2-3 days. Cost was about $500 for the full 24 hrs. My insurance coverage ok, but that does not cover damage to wheels or loss of use. They offered separate coverage if you wanted. They only reserved once you arrived in Vegas, and did pick up and drop off. They were near the airport, just west of the strip off of Tropicana. Still have all the paperwork (souvenirs) if you are interested in details -- email me.

I bought a red 99 from Dream Car Rentals on the strip in March 2002 and imported it to New Zealand. It was converted to RHD and now is the only road registered Prowler in the country drawing crowds wherever it goes. Quite likely some of you visitors to Las Vegas had given it a workout before I got hold of it. It just goes to show old Prowlers never die they just find a new home somewhere else.

I was in vegas in the fall and a place on the strip had two Prowlers for rent. One Orange, the fast one, and one silver.

The red Kat I mentioned I rented in Vegas was from Dream Car Rentals. I ran the snot out of it (off roaded it through the Red Rock Park, jumped curbs. 50-100 brake burnouts, 100MPH Drive-to-1st gear shifts, etc... Maybe your car is a different one.

(just kidding on the abuse)

I rented a Prowler in Las Vegas in 2002...which was probably the worst and best thing I ever did since I ended up buying a new one when I got back to Florida. I'm going back in a couple weeks and renting a Lotus Elise for 3 days. Unfortunately, the Lotus dealer near my house has 5 sitting out front so I hope I don't like it too much...heh. Anyay, here's where I rented the Prowler and where I'm renting the Elise. They're good people...I had no problems whatsoever. It does look like they dropped the Prowler from their list of cars though.

the only prob. i see with rent a vette is that the age minimum is 25, where dreamcarrentals.com is 21... i am 23 with a clean driving record, never a ticket or accident

Stick to your guns... No pun intended Sorry... You can do it!
You can do it! I saw my first Kat when I was in college & thought then... "Wow, wouldn't that be an incredible automobile to own... Ahhhh, it will never happen..." Well... I graduated in 1998 & bought her brand new in 2000. Yes ProwlerFreak... Dreams do come true

Some of my friends have told me that there are a few places that rent Prowlers here in NYC... I will try to find out how they handle the insurance here, I would think they have it worked out perfectly for liability... How does that Sinatra song go? If you can drive it here, you can drive it anywhere... To answer your next question... No I haven't & No, I wouldn't... I have shown a few of the "local" Taxi drivers what a HEMI is though
Whoa... Breaking News... A retaining wall just collapsed onto the Henry Hudson Parkway... Should make going home a real treat tonight.

In case you can't get a test drive... My sister lives down in that area, & I try to get down to see my Nephews every chance I get. I will email you the next time I am planning on coming through. This way you can try one on for size & see how she fits.

Kevina, That was the car alright. I found your wallet behind the seat. I used the money in it to patch up the damage. Did you want the picture of the stripper back that was in the wallet. Looks like you had a great night.

Kiwi: yes, please send the picture to the address on my drivers license. My wife was missing that. You're right, the three of us had a good time that night. Thanks!
