There must be some sort of procedure for removing and installing these Mickey Mouse center caps. I am sure the info is somewhere on this site, so I apologize for beating a dead horse. Can anyone tell me what the procedure is? Mopar is not known for things like this that are so fragile. I have owned numerous Mopar Products and they have all been "bullet proof". My Hemi Sattelite had a Dana 60 rear end (talk about overkill) |

I just took them off and got Jays set up. A cloth pin is one good way of taking them off. |

Fat Pat I took a plastic tooth brush and filed it to fit and use two offset putty knives to make sure they come off even. Toys |

When you install them, put a little lubricate on the tabs. When mine were on, I never had a problem with them. Just be careful. |

For several years now I have done a simple mod' to the hub cap that really helps. I simply shave about a millimeter of the outboard edge off the tabs using a belt sander. You could use a file or with some patience just sand the plastic down. Do them evenly. I have the proper removal tools in stock(the one shown in the repair manuals) and I can send you one for 5.oo inc shipping. As to installing them after the simple mod. just push the bottom 2 points of the star into the dimples they live in with the heal of one hand then push down and using the heal of the other hand pop the top point and the adjacent points into there place. It's just a trick-your sort of practicing martial arts on them. If you need additional info call me at 650-967-3609. Half of an old spring loaded clothes pin works great. Use a little dish soap as a lubricant when putting them back on. Don't twist the clothes pin when removing the covers. You can re=inforce them with a little hot glue at the base of the 5 tabs. |
