Here it is one day before Christmas and cold here in Houston.. Today started off great I had not driven my Prowler for over 3 weeks. First day out and what happens...

I was accosted by someone's bathroom fixture or part of it at least.. Ok Tom and Rich hold up , it was my car not me. I was driving to work today in traffic when a truck in front of me drops part of a sink , at least that is what I think it was ,a roundish object about the size of a basketball.
It bounced and broke on two parts, I dodged on piece only to catch the other on the right side of the front end.
The other piece hit the lower A-arm dead center, knocking 3 deep gouges in the lower front edge, Then the object went under the tire and boom. The part splintered into a multitude of shards, I had to pull over to see what had happen. Guess what. The tire and fender caught most of the debris. So I now have a tire that is cut a fender the has a bent bracket and yes a cracked fender...

By the way the truck did not stop. The largest piece I could find was sitting inside the wheel.

So I am in need of a front right fender and bracket. I have the spare front tire I will use.

Not a good Christmas gift.... Not good at all... No problems it can be fixed, All is ok .. Just sad now I start the paint job on my Kat, All I could think about while heading to work was Waynew and his yellow multi painted Kat.

We want wish all the members of the POA and their friends and family an Merry Christmas and Happy New years..

Stay safe...

Jim:

Happy Holidays, The good news is now you can do a custom paint job on your fenders, I think black would be a great choice for color and it would be a perfect match. You could also just cut out the part that is bent like they do on OCC. let the custom work start. OR BETTER YET, JUST LEAVE THEM OFF LIKE I DO.

Tami & Ken you are right , for a moment the Kat felt like a SUV bouncing over rough terrain. I am Ok . You know things like this happen so fast all you can do is just hang on and try to miss the large white thing heading right for you. First I thought it was a bag of ice, but once I hit it I knew better.

Wayne All I could think of was you while going work. Yes you may be right about just bending the good one to match the bent one. I bet no one would notice.....

Toys, I am on my second set of run flats. I had planned to change out to softer tires but now I have second thoughts.

I am sure insurance will cover the cost. Just not sure if I want a shop working on my Kat. Could come back worse than better. We will see. I did like to paint, maybe time I play painter again.

Curtis very happy to hear you are feeling better. Have a great Christmas and Happy holidays.

Amanda did a very good job here on the POA, I know I appreciated her updates. I plan to get started after the first of the year working on making the power top. Thanks again for all you help with parts.

I feel your pain. A similar thing happened to us hitting debris in the road. There was harly a place on the car the paint was not scratched. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise because we ended up with a custom paint job. Shop around for the right painter.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, Jim. I'm glad it wasn't worse. Too bad you couldn't get the guy's license plate or go after him and pull him over. In spite of it all, I hope you and Lori have a Merry Christmas.

Man I'm glad it wasn't any worse - hang in there.

I drove the kat to Houston the other day and nearly got involved in a wreck that was in the making right in front of me. Good thing was I could tell the guy next to me wasn't paying attention, so I began slowing down. He lost control of his car to miss the accident that just happened in front of us and swerved into my lane, missing the kat by about three feet.

Hello Everyone,

I have made the repairs to the Fender bracket, Not to bad to bend back in shape. Looks like I can have the A-arm touched up and bus out. The fender is reparable. This is this weekend.

More later.
