HELLO FELLOW PROWLER OWNERS!! I'm a fairly recent member based here in Chicago. I've got a beautiful Inca Gold Prowler that I got in August. Since then I've driven it to New Orleans, Toronto, Milwaukee and all over Chicago. I LOVE DRIVING THIS CAR!! I also own an '87 Buick Grand National GNX and a '70 Road Runner (440 six pack). I vividly remember the Prowler since originally seeing it as a showcar in the early nineties. Whenever the car was displayed at the auto shows, you practically had to fight to get a picture of it because the crowds were so thick around it. I took multiple shots of the purple beauty since showcars are usually destroyed and I wanted to remember this car! When I found out that Chrysler was actually going to build it, I knew one day I would get one. My Buick and Road Runner both get attention even from jaded Chicagoans, but I haven't experienced anything like I have with this Prowler!! You're constantly bombarded with stares, pointings, cameras, videos, waves, thumbs up, horns, comments and endless questions. The amazing thing is that this car has been out of production for 3 years! This car is definitely a bonafide collectible and possibly a future classic. For you old school gearheads, I live a couple of miles away from the old Mr. Norm's Grand Spaulding Dodge. Suprisingly, the building and lot are still there. I want to take some pictures of the Prowler by the dealership next year. I remember a lot of dealerships in and around the Chicago area displaying the Prowler when they were new but suprisingly, you don't see that many here. I've only seen a couple that were actually owned in the city. I've seen a few more that were from the suburbs. One reason I suspect is because the insurance is HIGH. The median price in the city is $4000.00 a year. My car came from Oregon. When they were pulling it off the trailer, a guy pulled up and tried to buy it then and there! He was truly disappointed when he found out it was already sold!! This site and club is a MUST for the new, prospective Prowler buyer and NECESSARY for the Prowler owner. I've learned so much about the car from this site. I also purchased a trailer from a fellow member. The group of people in this club seem genuinely nice which is a real plus. A TOAST TO YOU ALL AND YOUR PROWLERS!!! |

Hey Chi Town - Welcome to POA! You're right that you can obtain a wealth of info here about your Prowler and the members are really helpful. As you probably already noticed, most everyone here has a good sense of humor. Try to make it to some events - it's a great way to put a face with a name. It's also a great way to see what certain mods look like in person. Again, welcome, and post often! This message has been edited by Bob Miller on 11-26-2004 at 08:22 AM |

Welcome to the club. There are a bunch of active POA people in the Chicago area I just hope they are all not the "jaded" residents you mentioned. Be sure to check the events section when the weather warms up next Spring and try to attend one of their crusies! |

Hey Chi-Town ... Just the other side of O'Hare here ... watch the Events section for events next spring, EGV Parade in June for certain, lots of fun, and as Red5 said ... alwyas up for a cruise ... think we could get 3 across and 3 deep going down the Magnificent Mile on a Saturday afternoon? THAT would turn heads. Also, Wisconsin Dells gathering ... this WILL be a great week. Welcome again, and looking forward to meeting. |
