Hi everybody, just a short note to say hello and and introduce myself. I recently, on Halloween as a matter of fact (perhaps it should have been a black cat), purchased a Y2k Silver Prowler. It is in almost perfect condition; the only flaws I can find are a few minor stone chips in the paint. When I had it on the lift, I found that the underside is almost as clean as the top. The car has seldom, if ever, been wet and certainly has never been in the salt. I got all the service records, and the oil was changed every 2500 miles (it has 17k miles on it). When the engine is running, all the gauge readings are normal and there are no unusual sounds. My fuel mileage has been averaging 20-21 mpg which seems really good for this type car. I am employed in central Ohio as a chemist and I also own and operate a livestock farm. My interests include high-performance machinery of all types, target shooting, and horses. As an explanation of my user name, I also own a 97 Viper GTS (Blue with White Stripes) and one of the original Indy Rams (#12, also Blue with White Stripes). -Jim ------------------ |

Welcome to POA. I saw your post in trhe test area. I lived in Columbus back in the 70's and had a client that I think lived in Ostrander. Is that North of Columbus, outside Marysville? My friend worked at Scotts in Maryville. Enjoy your Prowler and come back here and post often. |

Thanks for the welcome! Marty, Ostrander is NW of Columbus and is about 8mi from Marysville and 10mi from Delaware just South of Rt36. My farm is about 6mi from Scotts and is bordered by Mill Creek. Meancat: Great Reply! I do not know who the previous owner was except that he was local. I purchased the Prowler from Carriage Towne in Stratford/Delaware, Ohio who sold the car when new to the previous owner and then did all of the service work on it. So when it was traded in, they knew the entire history of the car. I have a good relationship with this dealer so when this Prowler came in, they knew I would be interested and notified me immediately. Actually, I do have a couple of questions: In view of the fact that the Prowler has been discontinued, are there any spare parts I should obtain while they are still available? We are already running into this problem with the first- and second-generation Vipers. I have already ordered a car cover at the parts department and an extra set of floor mats on EBay. Also, is there a special tool for removing the center cap on the wheels? I am considering making something out of hard nylon or some similar material which wll not scratch the wheels. Thanks again, -Jim ------------------ |

I'd suggest you get front mudflaps if your car does not have them to help against rock chips and ceramic brake pads (for the front only) will really cut down on brake dust that accumulates on the front wheels. I used a screwdriver wrapped with a cloth when I removed my center caps but do not have factory wheels anymore. Be sure to attend a POA event when you can. BTW I'll be in Columbus (Worthington) next Tuesday evening visiting a friend. |

There is a tool for removing the center caps but I don't have the part number at the moment. I will check mine when I get home. By the way it is made of hard nylon. I have found several other uses for it, for example removing the top of the dash. A clothspin also works well for removing the center caps which is what I used until I got the tool. Vipercat, To remove the center caps, use one half of a spring loaded clothes pin. You remember the old wooden ones you have to squeeze to open. Make sure to throw the spring away. They work great and wont hurt the wheels or caps. Welcome aboard. |
