Found this radio while looking for some Mopar accesories for the Jeep. It looks just like our Prowler radios but has a CD player instead of a cassette player.
http://www.jeepworld.com/accessories/wrangler/stereo.htm

It is the third one down on the page. The fourth one looks like the stock Prowler radio.

Does anyone know if this could be swapped out with the stock radio?

YES...

However, there may be one, two or more differences from the Prowler unit that may be of concern... one, the mounting brackets... two, the back lighting & display (orange instead of blue) but wait there's more.

Next, the RBK may not have the CD Changer ~ Steering Wheel Control capabilities.

Just for fun, there is also option RAZ which is an AM/FM/CD/Cassette "all in one unit" but it also may have some or all the above possible differences that you may wish to consider.

If you have a specific question, just phone me @ 800 669 3540 with the model number you are considering and I can provide you with the information you may need.

Best wishes, Jay

CT...

I installed JBL's GTO635 in my front doors. These are 3-way and come with adapters to match the Chrysler bolt pattern. I took part of the defective OEM speaker ring and attached it to the JBLs for a better seal against the door panel if that interest you. These are $99 pr and I currently have 5 pr in stock.

Are they better than OEM? The Yeller Cat is a little over 4 years old and has consumed 3 sets of the OEMs... about one set every year fail when the foam suspension deteriorates.

The JBLs were put in last November (almost a year ago) and are still going strong so in a few months I will know more about the reliability.

As for sound, playing XM's 50s & 60s, top down and volume @ MAX, I LOVE IT... sounds GREAT to me!!!

All other components, dash ~ rear speakers and amplifier are OEM.

Best wishes, Jay

Handcrafted and available ONLY to those that carry the Black American Express Card... do you qualify?

Regarding the "Reverb" for the 8-Track player...

SORRY, it will not be available for the Prowler due to the vehicle's "stiff" suspension.

Alley Cat...

Of course being this is a "Limited Edition" ONLY for those Black American Express card holders, I think it fitting that each Prowler 8-Track unit would be personally numbered and autographed by the "Alley Cat" adding to the excitement.

What do you think?

SORRY about the reverb not being offered.

THANKS, Jay

Regarding the JBL Speakers I mentioned above... THANKS for the orders.

FYI... before shipping, I will solder a plug-in style connector on the speaker terminals thus eliminating any wire splicing... just plug-in and enjoy.

The JBL GTO635 (6.5" 3-way) are $99 for the pair, including UPS Ground delivery and the speaker connectors.

THANKS, Jay

Purchased and installed "Yeller Cats" JBL door speakers !!

Excellent fit without modifiying anything - they sound great (3 way speakers) and to top it up NO mods or cutting on the wiring harness since Jay (Yeller Cat) was so thoughtful to soder matching connectors to the speakers so they "plug" right in !!

How 'bout THAT for customer service !??

Thanks Jay !! Another 4 thumps up from DUSTI
