I was leaving work for lunch today and went to honk at some other folks leaving to wave at them. I think it is the first time I ever hit the horn. Not a very pleasing tone. Has anyone ever changed their horn to get a deeper, less tinny sound? I am not talking aa-ooo-gah or the silly computer models that play show tunes, but just a good sounding horn like a 72 Gutless. Heck, the Prius horn sounds better than this. This message has been edited by xpguy on 05-11-2004 at 06:46 PM |

My factory horn used to sound okay, but recently has sounded rather sick. I am due for an oil change soon and will have the Dealer check it out. This message has been edited by Thunder on 05-11-2004 at 04:47 PM |

Just thinking about it,I don't think I've ever used a horn on the car... Chris'train horn is the best...really makes you turn around and look where the train is coming from! |

I got carried away and added an ooguh horn. I mounted it up inside the nose. I rotated one of the existing horns to get enough clearance(easy) then made a custom bkt. to support it to existing bolts, then added a relay and wiring harness that I custom built for it.. I built a special bkt. for a small aux. button box along side the drivers seat that houses some 3 buttons and room to add more(later) it moves back and forth with the seat and is very tidy and out of the way. When I feel the need to shock someone with the riveting sound of "ooguh" I just reach forward and touch the little red button and the sound spews forth. I have scarred several people out of their wits and also helped prevent several accidents with this wonder. Always wanted one and I'm glad I have it. Like everything on this car it takes some time and effort to correctly put in but I think it was worth it. Obi-Wan |

Where are stock horns located and how accessible are they and their wiring for connecting new horns? |

I installed an awooga horn. No holes drilled, and the button for it is located so it can be used by my left ankle. The crowd at parades goes nuts with it. The original horn was left untouched. |

First non-stock horn on a Prowler that I heard was on Tony Goertz's cat (Canadian). He loves playing Happy Birthday and the national anthems from both Canada and the U.S. |

I've gone thru 2 horns already on my '99 and the only time it's normally been used is with the locking system. Any suggestions on alternatives for replacing or should I continue to use the Mopar horn.
