I've got the 8mil on the front of my trailer - not quite thick enough - I think I'll go with the 12mil next time. ------------------ |

i've had 3m on mine for a three years good stuff.there are other brands, but have not used them.to my knowledge 3m only makes one thickness, seems to work fine.if a large enough rock hits it or smaller one hits it hard enough,it will leave a mark.its not the cure all,but will protect your paint.its fairly expensive, and not real easy to put on.we have an over abundance of rocks/road rash in az.if you have never installed it,have a pro do it.mopar parts has a kit precut, protects lower rockers from rear of frt.wheel to frt.of rear wheel.i think its about 150.00-dont know part#,if still available. ------------------ This message has been edited by jan bruggeman on 05-10-2004 at 10:04 PM |

The new "Chromer condom front end protection system" needs a little more Research and Development. But...when all the wrinkles are worked out, we expect the product to be VERY competitive with the 3M film. |

since we are on the subject of sticking things on cars,it would be neat if we could get our hands on some nascar w/s tearoffs, would be great for trips and prevent alot of road rash, and rock chips.have never seen it,but visibility must be decent or they wouldn't use it.anybody ever seen the stuff. ------------------ |

I've seen it installed on some cars and i personally don't like seeing the separation line. I've seen it on the cars noses mostly like a Bra. I only drive mine in nice weather on paved roads and not had many problems with rocks. ------------------ |

quote: I'm personally leaning towards the Chromer Condom Front End Protection System,,,,,,,looks are secondary compared to the protection provided, and the cost factor favors the amount of spendable income in my wallet. Chromer - I will also be wrapping up my outside mirrors and the front edges of the forward fenders!! Since I've already removed the windshield wiper arms,,,,I plan on installing two catcher's mitts on sawed off broom sticks and attached to the wiper arm posts. That way, if I see a rock coming at me,,,,I can turn on the wiper switch and aim the mitt to catch or deflect the flying rocks. ------------------

Call information in Ft. Meyers, FL for ULTRA SHIELD, they can tell you if there is someone in your area that can apply their product to your car. OR you can take it to Ft. Meyers and have it done there. FYI it aint easy ------------------ |

Guys, I have bought the mopar kits at $150 each and sent them back when I saw what was in the box, big ripp-off. Instead I recommend 12 mil thick film from Griots Garage. I have it on both Kats across the bottom from the front wheel to the back wheel (same as the Mopar kit). Griots sells the 4"wide film (P#77892) for $3.95 per foot and an installation kit (P# 77896) for $4.95. You'll need 16 feet of film and 1 installation kit to do 1 Kat. |

I've seen the Lotus factory installed (i believe called Star-something) version...doesn't look too bad. Would have considered it if our kat was brand new and didn't have existing chips. Looks better than a regular bra! |

i have it on my lotus. you can barely see the lines. my front pieces is one piece. the only line you see is the one on the front clam. but that is even hard to see. well worth the money and looks better than a black bra covering up the front and sides. ------------------ |
