I stopped by a new dealership near my house today and asked their parts manager about getting a discount on parts for local POA members. He offered us 20% off list price! ALL PARTS - not just hard parts. *subject to mark-up percentage - example: markup on Borlas is only 20% so can't get 20% off this item, but can get a good discount* He asked me to provide him a list of local members so he can verify they are members of POA when buying. If you want your name on the list, either post here or send me an email with your first and last name. The guy's name is Dave Roberson at Jim Archer Chrysler 19200 NW Fwy (290 outbound) between Eldridge and 1960/Hwy 6. His email and phone is droberson@jeepgiant.net 281-897-3048 (or -3049, or -3050) www.jeepgiant.net |

idive, as a fellow Prowler owner I have been giving POA discounts on all Chrysler parts since Oct. 2003 at 10% over dealer cost. Doing a little math on a Prowler front fender for example, list price is $757. 20% off is $605.60. A savings of $151.40. I will sell it for $499.40 and save you $257.60!!!! That's more than a hundred bucks difference!! Even when I charge you actual freight to ship to your door it's a no brainer. 10% over is way better than 20% off. I plan to continue serving this site with the most honest information and great discounts I can provide as long as I'm at this dealership. Plus I enjoy all the daily contact with every member that calls and knowing they got the best Chrysler parts deal out there. Bruce P.S. I am not on a parts commission pay plan so your purchase from our dealership doesn't affect me personally in any way other than it's fun talking to you all. Bruce is correct,,,,,10% over cost is a great deal for all of us. Yes, you pay shipping,,,,but you don't pay sales tax if you live in a different state than where Bruce is located (Wisconsin)

A.C. You got a deal on your Borla depending how long ago you made the purchase. Before 5-1-04 you paid $30 over cost. Now with taking any percentage off list, list can be whatever a dealer wants to say it is. Factory list is only "suggested list". Chrysler cannot tell a dealer what he must sell any part for unless it's Chrysler's warranty. Each month prices are updated by Chrysler. Some change up, some change down(rarely), some stay the same. In the case of your exhaust price went up 5-1-04 to $785. So no matter when you purchased yours the dealer told you list was $234 over suggested. So buyer beware. Bruce ------------------ |

Bruce - figure up rear mudflaps for me using your math and tell me where I come out ahead. I hear they list for $32 and I can get them from Jeff for $24.75 + shipping, or I can go to Dave and get them in my hands for about $25.60, or $27.46 with tax. Figure 3 miles round trip into your math in place of shipping costs if you like. Beat that cost to get them in my hands and you have the sale. I'm serious here. I want you're quote to ship to 77041. Also, tell me which way I come out ahead if I need the part NOW and not in a week or two. Without a local discount, I would have to pay full price, or pay you're price + shipping and wait. I appreciate the deals you offer us POA members, but shopping around, I personally have found better deals out there. Especially when shipping is involved. Youngblood provides us 30% off list, no tax, NO SHIPPING. Borla from him to my hands was $615. AC - Dave told me his cost on Borla was $585. When I told him I can get it to my door for $612.06 going thru Jeff, he said it wasn't worth it to him to undercut that just to make $25 on the deal. (Jeff showed list at $741.) I was gonna call Bruce for his quote when I was checking, but he didn't have an 800#. I thought he used to have one in his signature. NOW, back to the purpose of this thread... a list of names of locals for me to provide to Dave... |

idive, I will concede that small items can be more worthwhile to buy locally and I tell many members the same thing on small dollar items when they ask me about them. However many members don't have a dealer that will discount to them at all and usually time is not an issue when they can save,in the case of the fender example,$257.60 off list. Again if you were to buy that same fender from your local dealer I could save you-before freight-$106.20. I agree with you when you say shop around. If there is a better deal jump on it. My intention was only to let the membership know the difference between 20% off and 10% over ------------------ |
